Hello I have a 2012 Kia soul plus. Symptoms, car has a hard time starting sometimes the shifting seems harsh all of a sudden and when it was doing this the other day the tachometer buried at 0 while I was driving. Oh also pedal almost yo the floor and was not Getty upping! Its not throwing a check engine light and when I had it scanned at O RIELIES they said it had no codes. It only does this on really hot days it seems like. Should I just buy one and change it? And will continue using to... Crankshaft position sensor?

I live in Raleigh and Sparta NC. 2015 Kia soul exclaim yellow 18-in Wheels 2.0 GDI automatic. I didn't have the recall she passed on the VIN inspection and computer thing. Currently over 70,000 miles still works. My dream if I kept this car would be to have a manual transmission without any nanny state junk but still have everything else work as normal. Thank you

You folks in Canada and the US Heartland might be spared this for another 10-20 years, but here in Virtual South America/Cuba/Haiti we're already living in full-blown Idiocracy ... but decidedly withOUT the comic relief! Yep, indie dealer's "mechanic" apparently up-ended the entire 5-quart jug of O'Reilly's Full-Synthetic 5W-30 into my "new" 99k Soul Base! As you can imagine, this brings the "earl" quite high above the FULL mark... OTOH there's old DARK varnish on there that goes... How dire/dangerous (or NON-issue) is 1.2 qt. OIL OVERfill in 1.6L NA Gamma? =:O

Now I DID do some/lotsa homework, Searched this entire site, and the first TWO pages (~18 threads!) that came up were ALL either 2.0L, 1.6Turbo, or Gen1 MPI engines... apparently our little NA 1.6L GDI "Gamma" NEVER needs new plugs? Getting a Rock Auto order together, need that NGK # (I'm in a HOT, NON-Winter climate) Apologies in advance if there's a placard under the hood, I didn't see it. Much Grass!

We are the second owners of a 2020 Kia Soul GT-Line turbo (1.6 liter engine, 7 speed DCT) with 40,750 miles. It recently had a fuel injection and engine cleaning service. There was also a recent issue with the check engine light coming on. The code was related to the #2 cylinder misfiring. We had the #2 coil and all 4 spark plugs replaced. The car was fine for a few days, but had another check engine light with codes P300, P302, and P304. It runs and drives OK. Just when you thought you had a MANUAL transmission, you realize the ECM is "spying" on yer shifty shifting habits! Plus one reads many dire warnings about "lugging" any engine, especially these oil-sensitive, aluminum block, novel-piston-ring, buzzy little 4-bangers. I need to gather more data, but IIRC one time it wanted me in 5th gear @ 43MPH... It often says I should go up by TWO gears! SOOooo... what say ye, RKIs? Do you "save gas" by obeying duh computer, or just let it... Will following the UP-shift ^ "recommendation" cause engine LUGGING?
