Wondering if an Aire 156d could be added to my quiver or if too closer to a 14ft'er. 14ft is a bit tight when it's the whole family (2 adults, 2 growth kids, dog). Though perfect when me and one other person (or two kids). Aire 156d could use the same frame, so could probably keep both. Could they be a medium and big boat quiver or too close in size? I've got a mini-max for just me. I don't want two frames and two sets of dryboxes and coolers, so would be nice to go bigger in mostly length.

Looks like we're going to have to access Sand Wash via the North route; there's an up to 4 hr delays if going through 9 mile canyon. Where can I reliably get water, block ice, and lots of groceries closest to Myton? Thanks.
Passed through an Idaho boat inspection yesterday. Upon hearing that I had just come out of an infested river they wanted to hot wash my raft. I told them there was no chance I was going to allow that. Based on their reaction, I got the impression they don't get told no very often. They told me they would let an "Oregon checkpoint deal with you", and had me sign a paper saying I had declined the hot wash. Are you allowing invasive check points to hot wash your rafts?
New member, been lurking for a few years while IKing. I finally have enough of a budget to get a raft and want to learn more and check out the classifieds. I'm based in the Denver, CO area and looking to make the IK to raft jump this offseason, maybe I'll find the right boat here! See you all on the river!
I need a new set of oars for my 14’ JPW cat ahead of a Grand Canyon trip. I have always wondered if Sawyer square tops are really better than the sawyer MXS oars that I have and generally like. My only other comparison is the Carlisle oars my boat came with. I run 10’ oars on that boat, if that affects anyone’s opinion.
Rather than hijack the thread started by @MikeB808 but wanting to answer his question, I figured I'd start a new, separate thread about boating philosophies. There are a lot of ways to rig and run a boat, and I've definitely changed my thinking over the years about what I actually need. A lot of whitewater rafts are set up more for float-and-bloat trips than for actually running whitewater or simply being efficient and comfortable on the float and bloats. A few... I've posted a couple times in the past on other threads about bear deterrents/fences etc and figured a thread might be worthwhile. First of all, I'm not a biologist (but am married to one) and never had a ton of interest in bears until I had a griz come through our camp on the main stem Flathead in fall 2021 . Wasn't prepared, but got lucky. As a result of that, I figured I'd best get edjumacated. There are a LOT of bears in Montana... Bear Safety - fences, containers, coolers, food, etc
Ok I'm sure this is out there somewhere.. I am looking at alternative options to RMR's trailer frame and poly deck for my PC. We just got this boat and use it as a family raft in Arkansas on tame rivers but would eventually like to take it west (when kids are older and sig. other is convinced). Kids like to run all over and I'd like to have a deck option for them that's better than using the splash guard as a hammock.. I can't bring myself to spend nearly $400 for the RMR set up.. Yeah I... Hoping to R2 a PhatCat down the Royal Gorge in a couple of weeks with a friend, neither of us have done it before. We're asking the friends of friends database for someone to lead us down the river as we're aware it's not a blind run for first timers. Curious how this section goes at low flows (221 cfs). Any input is appreciated. If you wanna join us that would be great, looking at Sep 19 and/or 20.
If you have built your own frame have you had it powder coated? How many Bit Coin did it cost. Yea you green horns I’m putting diamond 💎 plate for the deck between the rails.
Howdy All, Long time listener first time caller. I recently picked up a Phat Cat and am looking to improve my skills. I've done the green through labyrinth and some splashy stuff on the bear river, rowed one or two little rapids on a guided trip through GC . If any one has some recommendations for some good runs in the area I'd love to hear. Also wouldn't mind finding some folks to paddle with, safety in numbers and all. What I lack in experience I make up for in beer supply. [ATTACH... New boater in SE Idaho
