The stainless steel cage I purchased for $2900 cage turned out to be Poorly Designed with inherent dangers like claw catching hols and doors that can be opened by any larger bird. The cage frame is made with the thinnest walled material possible so when the cage is polled across the floor the square tube is rounded out allowing the caster to fall out on the floor. With the passing of my dear wife, its just Salty and I. Its been going pretty well, Salty is getting used to me being absent for several hours at a stretch, with me being away doing things. But this weekend will be the first time I am taking him with me, to do a 3 day show in Virginia. Its a 8 hour car trip, and 3 days of daytime shows. I have a plum headed parakeet who was mistreated before I got him and was cage bound and terrified to leave his cage. Because of this my main priority became to get him comfortable outside of his cage. We had a guest room so we turned that into the designated bird room so we never forced them (my bird and my sisters bird) to be in their cages and left the cage doors open 24/7 so that they are free to fly at all times. What a funny little guy

I still have no solution about what to do about or with Clara in the evening/night time. It’s just my hunch/opinion but I think she is suffering from birdy PTSD. She probably had her toes bitten off at night and no one was there to help her. So now at night she hates being shut up in a cage. When I put her in her cage at night she does the “foot in the air, pick me up” display. If I do that, take her back out she does the “I want” wing flapping motion. Mostly she just wants to be with me... Read more

I am hoping someone can help give us some ideas to help our 20yr old Harlequin rescue. Last year, we rescued a Harlequin Macaw. He was given to the rescue due to aggression. He was adopted and returned to the same rescue 3 separate times due to aggression. My family and I were determined to help him...so we adopted him. Hello. New member here from New Zealand. I'm a breeder from Hamilton in the North Island. I breed African Greys, Eclectus, Gallahs and Red-tail Black Cockatoos. I am currently hand-rearing two Red-tail blacks that are two weeks apart. There is another one being raised by the hen in my aviary (Which is very special) All three chicks come from the same pair. I am currently looking into becoming an exporter of these wonderful birds.

Hey all, I got a baby Indian Ringneck male yesterday, he is about 45 days old - i am not sure though. The breeder told me to feed him with syringe twice a day but he is eating pellets also. So yesterday i got him and i feed him - all was fine. Today morning i put him out to feed him but he did not want to eat. And then i wanted to clean his cage so i took him out and i did the mistake to put him in a small washing bowl for 2 minutes to change his food, water etc. And he got scared so i... Read more
