I had a few days, so I headed SE of my home to see if I could find a few trouts. rollin'.... canyons... we found some fish... and just really enjoyed the isolation... camp visitors... additional species....

Yea.... the fish most people try to avoid have taken over the big bay. It happens almost every summer, and this year it's been at its peak. They are hitting from shore, from the jetties, the piers and just about everywhere else.

I broke the tip section of my Sage Z-Axis 7136 a couple of weeks ago. I contacted Sage and was told I could get a replacement tip section for it, so I was pretty happy. I built the rod from a blank and used some pretty nice components on it. Imagine my disappointment today when Sage told me, sorry, they got it wrong. Some Z-Axis they can replace sections for, but not the two-handed models. So they will offer me a Sage Sonic as replacement, presuming the Sonic had a 7136 in its lineup... Read more

Took the Mrs, the pup, and an old friend out yesterday and floated a Columbia tributary. Fishing was tough. Flow was 2,340 CFS, which is pretty low for that river. In my experience it fishes a lot better about 1,000 CFS higher. In any case, we managed two decent cutties to the net and LDRed a third. It was a great day nonetheless with lots of laughs and perfect weather. Swam the dog a bunch and wore him out. Had a riverside lunch with grilled Costco polish dogs and shrimp cocktail. My girl... Striped Bass Fishing Trip, late August 2026. During my biennial visit to the Boston area to visit my siblings, we will charter a guide to take my middle brother and I fishing for striped bass. Have one picked up at I believe Waters West. Most unusual pattern. Was told it's specific use is for upriver SRC. From the name I'm assuming it's a local design, if I can find it I'll post up a picture Anyone have some in their fly box?

It seems that when I catch a fish on my first cast of the day I jinx myself for the rest of the day..... it's happened. I was on the water at 0845 this morning hoping to find pods of caprs frolicking. Instead I found the lake covered with schmoots and no cloopers. Working my pram through the schmoots I spotted a dozen or so fish in a pod, they were sort of frolicking. I didn't want to get too close so I made a long cast and didn't spook them. This is something I'll be thinking about in the next 5-6 months or so. I'll be in the market for a new (to me) vehicle. Here are my criteria: Needs: -~$20k range -~50k miles or under -dependability = longevity with minimal issues along the way (I love my current Pruis C for this, but that'll be going to the kid ultimately) Wants: -AWD (FWD is def not a deal breaker) -decent clearance (again, I've been dealing with the baby Prius so I'm mostly used to minimal...
