Pulled the engine and replaced the head gaskets. Set all the timing marks correctly. When we turn the crankshaft it will turn almost 3/4 of the way around then it stops. My guess is we put one or more of the camshafts in incorrectly? My question is- knowing where the crankshaft is meeting resistance, does this give an idea of where to look for my error?

I was reading that when I use the touch screen to read resting battery volts, it's not accurate. It said the reading can be showing a 1 to 2 volt low reading. Subaru put an upgraded battery in the car a few months ago. Fully charged the mechanic showed me a 12.8 reading . I was thinking of getting one of those plug in volt reader that I think goes in the USB port. Was the article right ? Thanks

I plan on driving my 2020 Outback Premium from the PNW to New Jersey in January-February 2027. As I am from the PNW winter driving is not my forte...so some questions. 1. I only have Kumho Solus TA51A M+S tires. The dealer put them on before I bought the used car. I'm guessing i need 3PMSF tires and I am looking at the Vredestein Quatrac Pro+. I may have let it get a little low and the light would turn on around turns. Then it just stayed on even after filling it. If I disconnect the electrical connector from the washer tank the light goes off. I did a quick search and there appears to be a TSB for this, but am not sure if it's applicable to the Gen 6 Outbacks. Has anyone else had this issue on their 2020+ Outbacks? I didn't have time... First, this is not a typical 'steering wheel is crooked' thread that points to an alignment, tie rods, etc. I'm not talking about the clock position of the steering wheel, I'm talking about the angle of its axis. Here is the scenario: I lay a straightedge across the car, equidistant from the from quarter windows. It is perfectly perpendicular to the car's long axis: Against this straightedge, the steering wheel touches at the 3-o'clock position... 2022 Outback's steering wheel is angled - is this normal?

Hello - I just brought my car in to dealer for regular maintenance and they dropped this on me and quoted me a $3400 to repair and said whole engine had to come out. I was floored something this major is needed already for my 23 OB XT. Is this a typical failure at this mileage? Any suggestions. This is on top of other minor things they found. Not what I was expecting to pay so early on. Thanks for any advice.

Curious if anyone has tried this thing, and if so, does it actually make a meaningful difference? They make claims that it does, but their data is for a tuned WRX, which is going to have higher airflow through the intake at the point they see the biggest difference, so may not be as meaningful at lower power levels... 2011 Outback 2.5 - I've had an ongoing rattle on low throttle- it's easier to hear going up hill and at lower speed. It goes away with medium or high throttle input and I can't hear it on the highway but that may just be getting drowned out with other noise and windows up. I've banged around quite a bit looking for loose heat shields be I can't replicate the noise. Could it be a broken piece of catalytic converter material rattling around? Still a heat shield... Hey all, I just got an Otofix D1 to use with my 16 Outback and 18 Crosstrek. A lot of the functions listed in the Otofix vehicle coverage list are not showing up ( Vehicle Coverage | OTOFIX ) I also noticed that the coverage list says Subaru v2.9, when the D1 is fully updated it only goes up to 2.81. Bought a project Subaru, not my first, Ive owned 7. This one's been to 4 mechanics before I bought it and no one's figured it out yet. What I've found so far- timing belt is good- in time; fuel pressure is at 48 lbs consistently; I've replaced MAF twice to check, I replaced the throttle body- it was bad- would open full when gas peddle was moved and would stick open; no codes except misfire on all 4 cylinders; will randomly start when cold but runs poorly for 5-10 sec and dies and won't...
