With archery season, fall sports for the kids, and a heavy work schedule, our boat days are slipping away. Decided to splurge on some bloodworms and take the little one out. First off, WTH on the bloodworms! $22 for a bag. I begrudgingly bought a bag (first bag of the summer) assuming a dozen. Shame on me! Once I got on the boat, I realized it was for 5! Dad, Uncule and I launched at 730 a.m. it was blowing pretty good, but not enough to hinder our trip. Started kinda slow but it picked up. Didn't get exact count on perch but probably close to 40 perch. No 12 inchers this trip had several around 11 and 11.5. And alot of good eaters. We got are 3 rock also. A 23.5, 22, and another 21. Went out with with two of my boys to bottom fish for spot out of Benedict. Stayed around bridge. They kept busy catching spot and what look like sand perch? Right at dark we got into perch. Stayed until a little after dark. Boys got tired and hungry so we left. It was fun. They had a blast and kept me busy. Hope y’all enjoy

Years ago, I discovered a large submerged rock pile in 4 ft of water. It often holds stripers in low light. The bite is better for me there when water levels are high. This morning featured dark skies and high water (both positives), but the wind was 11 mph from the NE. This set up a 1-foot chop and a steady push across the target zone. This was an annoyance while fishing from an 11' kayak. The sky was totally dark as I launched at 6:00 am. When I arrived at the rock pile, I could see... Low light striper bonanza

First time in Middle River catching a Spotted SeaTrout as well as a Silver Perch. The perch had some big old Gill Lice like the blues that came up years ago.

Took Black Lab pup - Grady out on Thursday - 17th. Idea was to go crabbing with handlines - then catch Spot - then get a Rockfish. Left my house in Severn ( near Odenton ) about 8:10 am. Going down I 97 , traffic was backed up. Soon the sky opened up - heavy rain. If you have never trailered a boat in rush hour traffic in rain - it is no fun. If you have - you know how bad it is. Saw forecast last night for north winds. Often NOAA and other predictions will under estimate the wind from this direction. Got up with Grady early - no wind at all in tall oak tree in my yard. Hmmm , why not ? Hooked up boat and put ice in cooler , packed up some dog food and treats - we were off. Got to Sandy Point about 9:00 am - only few trailers there. Nice breeze but not bad at all. 9/18/26 I know nothing about crabs. But I learned something this morning about crabs. The perch where not biting this morning but the crabs were. The crabs were hanging on my gulp minnows. They were pretty good size. I know they were keepers. Some of them were dropping off but I did swing a few on the dock. I caught a spot and put a peice of spot on my jig head. It got even better. Yesterday the president released an executive order regarding saltwater fishing. You can see the EO at RESTORING AMERICAN SALTWATER ANGLING AND RECREATION – The White House . I read through it quickly and don't have any strong reactions. Feel free to offer your own thoughts.

Got out at 10:00 to crab and outgoing tide low at 2:00. This has been my best luck. There were tons of crabs but females were 10-1. There was also many small males. I managed to squeeze out a bushel of mostly #2's but black and heavy with a few large mixed in. With all crabs black and heavy, the next slough should produce some real nice crabs after they fill in. Nothing worthy of pictures. I'm going to make some calls to see how the Patapsco is doing. Big males move North to water less... I think big male crabs moved North.
