I'm pretty slow and extremely averse to heights, so caving with clubs doesn't work for me. All the people I would normally cave with are either retired from caving, in poor health, or dead. So I'm looking for someone who would like to join me on occasional bimbles to horizontal caves, nothing exciting, just for the joy of being underground.

Hi, I have got a split (about 20mm) in my wellington boot, the boots generally are in good condition. I've seen some repair stuff on Amazon, has anyone repaired a split boot or is it better just to buy a new pair of boots?

On a recent walk above Hardraw we came across a small, choked sink which was taking a fair flow without backing up. It's right by the big rectangular sheepfold shown here We didn't see any obvious resurgence (I just looked over the nearby scar edge). The closest thing I could see in the book (NC Vol 1, 1988) is Pike Slack Pots off to the north and it isn't one of those. Does anyone have any knowledge?

Specialist rescue teams are continuing to search the Saint-Sauveur cave system in southwestern France for a 43-year-old British cave diver who failed to return from a dive on Friday. Rescuers have reached and searched an air chamber inside the submerged system, but the missing diver was not there.

I'd been looking at various lamp / battery combinations and came across some AA cells rated at the usual 1.5V, but which were Li-ion type batteries. All the other Li-ion single-cell batteries I’ve come across have a voltage of ~3.7, so how come these have a lower voltage? Also, they were rated at 3000 mAh, which surprised me, as a typical 18650 is also rated at around 2500 to 4000 mAh; it struck me as odd that you could, as it were, ' cram the same amount of electricity ' into a much...
