Kicking off Monday with a Vintage Longines

G’day WUS brainstrust, I’m after your thoughts on a “rugged” automatic watch that I can daily wear and hopefully hold onto for quite a while. Something that over time can develop a bit of patina and character. This’ll be my first good watch so I’m pretty new to all of this. For background I’m a commercial electrician, so arguably on the cleaner side for a construction worker, and I enjoy being outdoors and hiking. While I know something quartz like a G shock would be the ideal choice for... Recommend me a rugged every day watch.

I am learning that battery quartz and solar quartz watches provide more bang for your money than a mechanical/automatic movement. I have questions. Yes you can buy a quartz watch for $10, but it may be of poor quality. You can spend $1000 but you might be paying for bling rather than value for money. In the world of watches, where is the sweet spot of cost, quality control, durability, etc? My guess is that it might be in quartz solar with brands like Citizen. I love my Redwood solar... Hey all, Anyone else find themselves preferring smaller diameter watches? Traditionally, I've been into larger watches, 44-45mm. Even had a 47mm baby tuna once and thought it was great! So, of course I found anything less than 40mm as "small." And that's me with a 16.5cm wrist lol Anyway, recently, I've been wearing a late 60s GP that's 34mm A LOT and I dunno...I think it looks great! Really light and comfy... ... Going Smaller
