Public Transport for Seniors

clifford said: I'm overnighting in MEL in November (SYD-MEL-LST). As I arrive MEL around 3 pm, I'm planning to take the public bus to Broadmeadows Station and then the train to Spencer St, Takes longer but is a tad less expensive, and probably more "interesting". Never used my Myki card before, so I'll give it a workout. I have lived in Melbourne before, so not a complete novice. Click to expand... Two questions if I may @clifford 1. Is your overnighter on the weekend ? 2. No disrespect, but if Senior ? If... Read more

Brisbane Airport upgrade

Brisbane Airport begins $5 billion makeover to improve usability, sustainability, capacity ahead of Olympic Games The new security screening portion of the project is due to be completed by the end of 2025 — due to upgraded standards set by the Australian government — and will allow passengers to keep most of their items in their bags. A new mezzanine level will connect to the skywalk and allow passengers, who have already checked in online and are travelling only with carry-on... Click to expand... Read more

Malaysia Airlines Delays/Cancellations

Today's MH149, the scheduled 1030 arrival ex KUL is more than two and a half hours late and not due into MEL until a forecast 1308. B772 9M-MRN is the operating aircraft. Unlike QF's 'enhanced' LAX and LHR A388 schedules into and out of MEL, there is a bit of slack in the time on the ground in MEL for this MH rotation so one would hope that unless unplanned maintenance is required, the 1510 hours MH148 back to KUL should depart on time or close to it.

Qantas Hotels tips

QANTAS hotels may seem like poor value, but I've noticed that it really depends on the hotel you book. I've been comparing QANTAS Hotels (with Platinum, Points Club Plus, and Green Tier) to Agoda (with Platinum membership), Booking.com (with Genius level 3), and Trip.com (with Gold membership). I've found that in Australia, QANTAS Hotels that are labelled as "Stay and Save" are excellent value, even without considering the points earn, or the possibility of having vouchers. So keep an eye... Read more

Public Transport to our airports - what's cheapest?

Interested by a recent post in the SkyBus discussion, I've just spent too long looking at transport to/from airports. Arguably Adelaide has the easiest/cheapest service at $3.70 and a direct bus to the CBD. Brisbane also takes the cake for cheapest parking with Sydney parking being more than some return flights for a Jetstar/Tiger weekend away. Below are the results: Comparison of Fastest and Cheapest Public Transport services to/from major Australian airports . The services must be... Read more

Credit card options for retirees

Hey gang, Has anyone had any luck with CC approvals though retired and showing no income? I have seen some posts back in 2020-2022 but all very sporadic information 1. If so, could you please kindly share what banks they are 2. Any with higher approval rate based on your experience 3. The banks that I am considering would be: Amex Charge, QFF points, or HSBC Alliance 4. Anything that would give a higher chance of approval? 5. And the creditsavvy score is sitting at 900+ EDIT: 6. Have had... Read more
