Newbie from Down Under [ Sydney ]

I've been into British cars since was around 18 back in The Kingdom of Yorkshire in the UK. I've owned an MGB and an MGB-GT, I bought the MGB-GT out to Australia over 30 years ago, however sadly I had to sell it due to being given a company car and I had no where to the MG safely & out of the weather. Years later a sad looking 1978 Triumph Spitfire 1500 came my way thanks to a relative moving back to the UK. I had it restored in Melbourne and moved up to Sydney with my job and bought it up... I see this message on my screen: "British Car Forum would like your permission to enable push notifications ." What would these be?

The gas pedal linkage. This relates to my post about the throttle linkage issue I posted ......

but I am starting a new post because I need Information on the cross shaft that runs across the front of the firewall. In that post forum member 3798j was kind enough to post the factory schematic with the names of the parts involved. Has anyone taken the cross shaft off? The reason I ask is I believe I have a broken "Mils pin" that is causing the cross shaft to not move in synch with the firewall bracket leve r ..... the one closest to the rear carb. If I undo that firewall bracket will I... Read more

GPS Speedometer

Over the last couple of years I added a Toyota 5-speed gearbox, and a 3.54:I ring and pinion set to my differential. On top of that I run non-standard tires. As a result, my speedometer doesn't register anything near to an accurate speed. I have been meaning to take the simple measurement of counting the number of revolutions my speedometer cable turns over a set distance that is some fraction of a mile, and then send the speedometer to one of the usual suspects to have it re-geared to... Squeaking Clutch when hot

Need some troubleshooting here. Having a hard time fixing/locating this loud sqeak. I rebuilt a TR4 gearbox and replaced my stock TR3 gearbox. Runs great, but about 2 weeks later, I consistently get a loud squeak about 10 minutes into a drive. Since it is consistently after 10+ minutes, I assume it is due to heat. While idling and in neutral, the noise is present at higher RPMs (1200+) or when I am pressing on the clutch. Noise gets louder when pressing on clutch. I assumed throw out... Read more

DDOS Attack

Woke up this morning to find the server intermittently not responsive. (Some of you may have discovered this problem also). After extensive research, I discovered the site was being hit by a large number of IP addresses, all originating from the same block of addresses in Singapore. I have blocked these in teh firewall so hopefully things will return to normal.

How do you remove the Headrest?

I need to remove the headrest in my 1973 TR6. The drivers side pulled straight up and out, no problem. The passenger side pulls up and stops. How do you release the headrest stalk from the seat? Help!

Sidescreens - rebuild or replace?

My new Bugeye came with a tired set of what I believe are Weathershield sliding sidescreens. No idea if they are original to the car, but they do seem to be authentic Weathershield ones. They are tatty and do need a rebuild. So cost aside, any thoughts on rebuilding them versus just buying a new set from Moss/AH Spares/Bugeye Guys etc. I have measurements from AH Spares for their rebuild parts — they may work with the original screens, I just need to do some measurements tonight. I was... Read more

Horn Gremlin

Hi all, I have a TR2 gremlin causing mischief. A couple of weeks ago while out for a nice Sunday drive, her hooter went on and I could only get it to stop by pulling the fuse (naturally it happened at 3pm outside an old-aged home). I've checked the wiring in the trafficator and for fraying at the base of the harness where it exits the steering box and can't find any problems from that side. Incidentally, I'm not sure how many have the misfortune of needing to take apart their trafficator... Read more

Ramtech EFI fuel injection

Just curious if anyone has had communications with Ramtech in the last year (the last time his website was updated). I was ready to purchase his EFI kit for my 1973 TR6, but have not heard back from him in the two weeks since contacting him.
