I got some Lucas 54 callipers and carriers off a corrado vr6 2.9. Also bought some 280mm discs 22mm wide. I've ordered some front brake pads which are supposed to be for the vr6, but when I've sized them up against the carriers, they look wrong. Can anyone advise which pads are the correct ones that I need. These pads didn't come with anti rattle clips neither. I've attached images of the pads up against the carriers and you can see that they don't sit inside the groves for the anti rattle... Anyone tell me what pads I need for Lucas 54 callipers?

Got the chance to buy a mk2 gti. It has a 2.0 16v abf engine carried out very well so im told.ive only ever had 8v gti,s is this gonna feel night and day quicker.it is on the digi set up.thanks.

Hello all 8) I'd joined many years ago but never posted, reading from the shadows! longterm owner and currently have a few :-[ old photo from ~ 10 years ago, the blue B3 td is now spares as panels are unobtanium, the red B3 tdi'd is in need of tlc and the golf tdi'd is still on daily duties! not shown is my '95 t4 tdi'd and '91 B3v tdi'd (both also red) I'm also a fan of vw's... Hi, I am in the process of removing subframe to bolt on all the new powdercoated stuff. On removing the track rod ends from the power steering rack I noticed the letters L and R on the ends, handy to know, but L was on the drivers side of a right hand drive and R on passenger side. They were bolted to the hub carrier with the nut down so correct as per diagrams I have found. Could someone advise a reason why someone would do this? When re-assembling i'm going to do the opposite of what... Mk2 golf track rod ends orientation query

I've pulled the cluster out of the car today to investigate why the illumination isn't working. I found that the metal contact for one of the bulbs has completely disintegrated, see picture. I'm guessing that it's not really possible to effectively repair it so I'm on the look out for another circuit board or cluster. Does anyone know if there are any differences between the mph and kmh clusters? Mine is kmh but would a circuit board work correctly from a mph car?

Anyone ever changed one of these? Apparently it's all done from the scuttle side, but does the whole fan box have to come out, or can you extract the matrix with it still in? I thank you.

Hi all, got an advisory on MOT of corrosion on jacking point passenger side front, can any one confirm these are the parts i need ? one side is shot but welder says to do other side as well

I've fancied changing my Golf for a while now, back to NA with either ITB's or carbs of some description. Just wondering what a Mk2 16v KR with Webber DCOE 45's is like to live with. The Golf is only a weekend toy now really and think I'd like to go back old school really. Never tinkered with Webbers so would be an interesting experiment. I just don't want to shoot myself in the foot really. Thanks, Keith.

What are the emissions requirements for a 1991 Polo GT? I had it checked earlier and the machine asked for a fast idle check which the car failed. I thought all pre aug92 cars were exempt from that? The car is fitted with a catalyst. Cheers.
