The season actually started a month ago, but I haven’t been able to hunt much. I took my 4 year old son and 7 year old nephew a couple of weeks ago, and my nephew shot a 10 pointer. I’m hunting alone tonight. It feels like a good day for the deer to move. I’ve already seen 3.

I'm getting ready to take a handicapped hunter out for deer in a special regulations area, straightwall cartridges only. Since I don't own any of the newer straightwall guns like the .350 Legend, I'm thinking of taking my Savage 220 bolt action 20 ga with a fixed rifled barrel, shooting Hornady 250 grain SST sabots. I've been shooting nice groups at 80 yards, and this gun seems like a reasonable low-recoil choice, but I've heard that the .350 is also very accurate with very low recoil. How... Read more
Hey crew, I plan to get our root saver grown chestnuts and persimmons in the ground this fall. Here’s the question, I’m not going to cage these, my plan is to tube them. I will use 48” vented tubes wrapped with window screen to keep the mice at bay. Here’s my question, will the trees have any issues late winter inside those tubes? From what I’ve read, vented tubes allow for enough cool air to enter to keep the tubes from damaging the trees when the warm days and cold nights hit. But I wanted... Read more
Hello everyone. I’m upgrading my boat setup and looking for advice on choosing the right 36v trolling motor battery. I use the trolling motor regularly for fishing trips, sometimes for several hours, so runtime and reliability are my biggest concerns. I’m considering either three 12V deep-cycle batteries in series or a dedicated 36V lithium battery. Is lithium worth the higher upfront cost compared with AGM or traditional lead-acid batteries? I’d also appreciate recommendations on the... Read more
anyone out there has any advice on trying to get a landowner tag in the dakotas for rifle deer hunting?
I have this crossbow for sale priced at $235.00 including these accessories: 3 arrows 3 target tips 3 hunting broadheads cocking rope scope sight string wax It is a HORTON Legend with 165 lb draw weight. New serving on string was professionally replaced today. Arrow speed is estimated at 330 fps. Accuracy is dependent upon the shooter. The arrow group pictured was shot at 25 yards without a rest. Using a rest will tighten grouping... Read more

Buckwheat with chicory, clover, alfalfa and wheat coming up underneath - spray, throw, mash. Notice I said mash rather than mow. It’s my new way of doing it.
Hello, I’ve been trying unsuccessfully to get my hands on a few Concordia oaks ( Quercus × introgressa ) for a couple years now. I have done quite a bit of grafting in the past on fruit trees and oaks and am thinking that may be the best route to go. Does anyone have any mature Concordia oaks that would be willing to cut and sell me a few scions? All that would be needed is a few pieces 6”-12” long of last year’s new growth that is roughly the diameter of a pencil and has a few dormant... Read more

Hello all, I am new to the whole food pot game and am just getting started. So I am based out of finger lakes area hard clay rocky soil, I have about 75 acres total and am going to be doing about 8 food plots some smaller kill plots others maybe larger. I have a 3032e John Deere and am in the market for an attachment to help prep plots. I already have a tiller but ground is way to rocky and hard for tiller we normally use for you garden. I was interested in the kunz chisel plow as a... Read more
