My question is it setting expectations for other publishers to charge this little? Everyone kind of expects Wizards of the Coast to price D&D books -- talking published books, not pdfs -- at a price point that takes into account they'll sell a ton of copies. No surprise their most current PHB is only US$50. Daggerheart core is US$60, a lavishly illustrated large book, and comes with hundreds of cards. A pretty slipcase to boot. Would D&D be better if a future edition of the Player’s Handbook covered only levels 1–10? The more I think about it, the more I wonder whether D&D really benefits from having 20 levels in its core progression. Most players seem to spend the vast majority of their time below level 11 anyway, and this is also the range where the game seems to work best. What if a future edition simply concentrated on levels 1–10, but made character development within those levels much richer? Leveling... Read more

I'm interested in the World of Warcraft setting book that will be coming out in a couple of months. But I've never played WoW and know almost nothing about the setting. However, reading the product description makes me feel like it's unique enough from other standard fantasy settings that I might like it. What makes the setting exciting and unique?

Later this year, we will be travelling to Geneva to visit CERN! Y’know the Large Hadron Collider. Ostensibly, we’ve been invited to meet the CERN RPG club and do a feature on them. Apparently scientists are nerds. Who knew? But we also get to see all the science stuff. ATLAS, the antimatter production facility, other shiny things. Plus a day in Geneva, a city known for being inexpensive, right? I can’t wait!

Vampiric Bite. When you use your Unarmed Strike and deal damage, you can choose to bite with your fangs. You deal Piercing damage equal to 1d4 plus your Constitution modifier instead of the normal damage of an Unarmed Strike. We have been playing this as a straight up Constitution-based attack, but one of my PCs (a Barbarian) noticed that it only mentions Constitution for the Damage Modifier, and not the attack roll. Does this mean they can use Strength for the attack... Read more
