Hello from Michigan

Just joined. I am farming with a 1948 Super A and am just starting to assemble parts for a Cultivator frame. We had one of these when I was young (born '42) so It's what I think a tractor ought to look like.

SA cultivator

Where are best salvage yards near Michigan to get parts for a McCormick A 144 cultivator?

I'm Back - Now with a 1947 BN

Well, after a few years without any IH tractors, I just happened along to a Farmall BN. My neighbor had picked it up back in 2017, disassembled, had the engine rebuilt, started reassembly, but just lost steam on the project. So, back this spring, I bought the project from him, in pieces, and had planned on it being a winter project. He had already installed the secondary floorpan and had already purchased the seats, so I decided to go ahead and make a "passenger tractor". I took all of... Read more

Something wrong with the touch control

I recently had the rear main seal replaced in my Cub (I have no room to do this job). I got it back and everything seemed great until I tried the touch control. It wouldn't move. I finally put some weight on the fast hitch and it reluctantly went down. Then it reluctantly went up. I checked the fluid and found it to be a quart low. I added the proper amount and began working the hydraulics again. It got a little better but still very jumpy. Sometimes I still have to push it down but... Read more

Grill Emblem

Hey guys. I haven’t been on here in several years but have a new project and looking for some input. The new project is a BN, I picked up from a neighbor who started the restoration and didn’t finish it, so I bought it in pieces. I have it mostly put back together and am looking at some detail stuff now, and that’s why I’m posting this question in the “A” forum, because there’s a lot more As that you have restored than there are B/BN. My question is about the grill “Farmall” emblem... Read more

It's Cubfriend's Birthday!

Happy birthday Frank! Take care of that knot on your head. Hope you heal fast. See you at Cubarama Thursday.

Cub Cadet Ultima Z2 Zero Turn Mower

I’ve owned my Cub Cadet zero‑turn mower for only three months, and the transmission belt has already come off twice. What should be a straightforward fix has turned into an unnecessary ordeal because Cub Cadet provides almost no usable technical documentation for owners. The belt routing schematic in the operator’s manual is roughly an inch and a half square — far too small and lacking the detail needed to identify critical points like where the tension spring attaches to the chassis. When... Read more

Dads 1953 cub

Hi , new member here decided to save my fathers by cub that’s been sitting for 25 years . Surprisingly things were better than I thought they’d be . My plan is to freshen up the engine and get it going I’ve done this work before . Just wondering if anyone has seen this on #2 piston cylinders are good seems like it must have been previous damage or used piston ? Thanks Paul in NH

Picked up this little single bottom #3 Little Wonder plow this week.

I picked up this little gem this week from one of the guys in the tractor club. I've given him some good deals on a few things, so he returned the favor. #3 Little Wonder with slat bottom. It's missing the coulter, but I have a few laying around from salvaged plows. Hope to put it in the dirt here next month at one of our plowing days. I got it to pull behind my BN, but will have to freshen it up this winter so will pull it with my 140 for now, and see how it works.

Found A Water Leak After 380,000 Miles

I have had to add a gallon of water to the truck I drive at work every 3 or 4 months since it was new. We never could find where it was going. Also, the water temperature would climb faster in a pull than the identical truck we have. When the fan kicked in, it would bring the temp right back down. Two weeks ago, the oil temperature started over heating when pulling hard. Apparently, someone at Cummins thought it was a good idea to "cool" oil with 190* water instead of putting the cooler in...
