Front end clunk at slow speeds on ES

Hello folks! I am new to the FJR family, I recently just purchased a very nice one owner 2020 ES with 12,000 km. I put the bike in the shop and gave it the once over after riding it home, checked the bike all over, Oil and filer, checked all the brakes and wheel bearings fluids etc. While riding the bike home I noticed a slight cluck / thud coming from the front wheel or steering head bearing area so I paid particular attention to this area when checking things over. In addition I did... Front end clunk at slow speeds on ES

New Helmets Survey - Shoei vs the rest

I did a few searches and didn't see the info I'm after so please excuse if it's well trod ground... My Shoei GT Air needs replaced. A new one is $1250 (with coms). I'm balking. I wear earplugs and listen to music always. I don't find it all too terribly quiet. Who has experience with Shoei AND less expensive alternatives? My backup helmet is a 15 year old Nolan that pales in a quality comparison with the Shoei and I couldn't bear wearing a cheapo feeling helmet... New Helmets Survey - Shoei vs the rest

Water in Fuel Tank - Drain Clogged?

Hey everyone, Does anyone know if the fuel filler surround has any kind of drainage system for rainwater? I stopped at a gas station to fill up the tank, and when I unlocked the lid and opened it, I saw that there was rainwater all the way up to the brim on the filler tube. In fact, some of it spilled over the edge and into the fuel tank. I was able to soak most of it up by carefully pushing some paper towels into the surrounding cavity. The bike had been rained on the previous night... Water in Fuel Tank - Drain Clogged?

Pirates Lair backrest w/ Yamaha FJR Aluminum rear rack

Has anyone mounted a Pirates Lair backrest on an accessory Yamaha FJR1300 Aluminum rear rack? I have a 2014 Yamaha FJR 1300A and currently has the standard color match rear rack with a Pirates Lair backrest mounted. See picture below: This arrangement works great except when we go out of town and want to carry more stuff. We have a fabric top bag that would typically sit behind the backrest on the rear rack The weight limitations... Pirates Lair backrest w/ Yamaha FJR Aluminum rear rack

New to me FJR 1300

Hello folks! Picked up a 2007 FJR yesterday. Really like the smooth power delivery that it has. It is fast! I think I am going to love this bike! Currently own a BMW K100 and a Royal Enfield Himalayan 450. This bike is different. Has a couple of issues but at 2k WTH! One issue is the ABS light came on and I am not sure if it was on when I got it or after I got home. Any ideas? Look forward to speasking with you folks.

NFL Here in Australia

Well I have to say a big congratulations to the 49ers on a big win here in Melbourne today being a Friday and our morning to add to that with over 100,000 attending the game and only 3 empty seats in the MCG. I would also wish the L. A. all the best in the future part of the season. I fell for them a little after flying all the way here and not having more than 48 hours rest must have taken a big part in their loss ( final score was 27 to 7 ) Jet lag must have taken a big toll on the Rams... Power loss and then it came back

Got gas, accelerated onto the hiway and felt something was amiss. CC wouldn’t work and the gauges didn’t read right and the power was gone. Pulling in the clutch felt like the brakes were on. Pulled over and pulled it in again but left the gas on and all of a sudden it revved high and (the brakes were released). Yes I know it wasn’t a stuck caliper (why was the CC affected)? But WTH was it?

I jacked up front end & pulled & pushed on the forks & it doesnt move vertically. i had tapered bearings installed 3 yrs ago. Do you guys think the bearing are loose? Idk. Thanks.

2015 FJR1300A - Northern MS

Post COVID and remote work changes, along with changes in life are forcing the sale of the beloved FJR. This bike was my daily commuter and has been rock solid reliable. I am the original owner, having purchased this bike as new-old-stock in 2018. I have done all the maintenance on it minus the small recall fixes that Yamaha required (this bike is BEFORE the 2016+ transmission recall). Since it was my commuter, I have both the Yamaha touring windscreen (shown in the pictures) and the... 2015 FJR1300A - Northern MS

Interested in FJR purchase any current owners in Atlanta area

Current Concours14 rider here. Got a 2012 with 140k miles on it but looking to finally replace. It’s been the perfect bike except lack of cruise control has really started to bother me. Looking at 2018 FJR but have never ridden one. Are there any owners in the Atlanta area I could meet up with hopefully for a short test ride? I can’t even find this bike at a dealership in Georgia so looking to have one shipped but want to make sure it’s the bike for me. background. I’m 6’6” so comfort is... My Experience With Niche Rotors

At around 70k miles, the second set of pads was getting thin on my 2013 FJR. While inspecting the braking system, I measured the rotor thickness and the fronts were 3.5mm thick, way below Yamaha's 4.5mm wear limit. Replacement options are pretty much as follows: OE Yamaha rotors for about $250/ea, EBC rotors for about the same price, or any of a number of Chinese-made replacements for a fraction of the originals. Based on a positive review of Niche rotors from years ago on this forum, I... My Experience With Niche Rotors
