East Canyon today

That’s a good day. Trout fishing will improve as the weather gets colder up there. Good report!

East Canyon today

I started out with just a couple of medium weights , that didn’t work so I added more still no good. My fish finder wasn’t working so I couldn’t see how deep they were

Great reports, were you by chance using down rigger or were you fishing the surface? We caught a few trout three or four weeks back but we were down 40’ with rigger.

That’s awesome, you are indeed a lucky man. I think only you and jig-fisher have their wife’s get out and fish with them.

East Canyon today

After a long hot summer I finally was able to get out and go fishing . Decided to go to east caynon beautiful day to go , only 5 other boat out . Ramp has plenty of water to launch your boat . Started off trolling for trout but after 2 hours and no luck and trying a bunch of different lures decided to try for bass . Ended up catching 12 and quite a few long line releases . Then back at the back where the river comes in we noticed a bunch of fish jumping so went and checked it out , kokes were jumping all over, bright red and some almost red. It was one of the funniest thing I have seen for long time fishing

Willard yesterday

Thanks Paul. Yes, we were fligging, last week cranks produced zero, so we saw no need in trying anything but fligs. Chartreuse did best for me, and blue back, silver bottom was best for Ira. We always use chubs for bait but I did try a night crawler and mussels, just to see if they would work but nothing. All cats were released unharmed, once my wife quit eating them, I saw no reason to keep them any longer.

That’s a great day for Willard! Were you pulling fligs? Any color or bait combo work better than others? 23" is a great eating size.

Ira and I got out there at 7 am, launching from the South marina. Water level remained the same as last week, about 4.5’ at the boat dock. Water temp was 68 degrees and got to 72 before we left at 1:30. We tied a spot outside the marina first but no luck, so we headed to where we caught them last week but only caught two, so we headed South, off the West dike, to some structure in that area. They were there and we pick up 10 more cats before we called it quits. Most cats were 23" but we caught two that were smaller and one around 24". Not many people out there yesterday, none when we arrived and only three out boats out when we left. There was a little water coming down the baffles when we arrived but it was running full bore when we left. With the water almost drained from pineview, this could be the last of the water going into the lake, guess we will see.

I am grateful for her company for sure. And some great adult kids that help me launch and handle the boat. She even likes pulling in a fish or two now and then!

Im in the same “boat”, I enjoy trolling more than anything else and my wife does also so she can nap in the boat in the sunshine.
