I can’t believe I got it! I really wanted a special pokemon today to mark this date (a friend’s birthday) and thought I had it with an awesome Charizard raid with the special background, but then I found this pretty thing. I got super extra lucky and found a second one later on, so I will be getting a shiny charizard with goggles. I am very happy about this, not just the shiny but the fact that I got it today to mark the occasion.
Found this at home. Interestingly it’s not a beach biome
How about a Kecleon challenge for the upcoming event Pokémon Horizons: The Series Celebration Event (September 2026) ?* They will be appearing more often, apparently, so I thought it could be interesting to see how many we can find during the event. Maybe each Kecleon is worth 50 points and a shiny one 100? I don’t know how common they will make it for the event (maybe it’s something noticeable, maybe it isn’t at all…) so I thought we could do something with points instead of being the first to find one? (Let’s hope we all find one or two at the very least!) What do you think? *I’m looking forward to this event a lot, since I’ve watched that show recently (2 seasons so far) and really enjoyed it. I can’t wait to get that Charmander in a new costume. Charizard is going to look so cool. I just wish we could get more costume pokemon in raids (and in the wild, I guess, there’s a lot of them in the show). I love Charizard, don’t get me wrong, but in raids there will also be Meowscarada, Skeledirge and Quaquaval and they don’t have anything extra (maybe a possible background?). Seems like a missed opportunity to me! I also don’t know the relation Kecleon has with the series, but, again, I’ve only watched the first two.
I did it solo with 0 seconds left!
It went great for me, too. I already had a perfect (purified) Garchomp and a few months ago I caught a perfect Gible that I had the very good fortune of not evolving! I also had a shiny Gible already, so the main focus was to get at least 2 more shinies to complete the family + get more candy! I also found some with pretty good ivs and I ended up evolving them too, but really I think my strategy is better by focusing on 2 or 3 really good ones and get them as high as I can. I ended up finding a lot of shinies, I can’t remember how many now, but it was something closer to 12? It was great and quite the contrast to previous community days, where sometimes I’ve been struggling/failing to even complete the family (looking at you Sobble and Deino!). Really, I don’t think I had this many shinies since… Totodile? Who knows, but the difference was there. I also noticed a lot more spawns than usual and I mean a lot more! They must have changed something, no? I’m guessing that’s why I had so many shinies, the spawns were everywhere (I used an incense). I was also not prepared for how aggressive Gible was going to be… Seriously, all the jumping and biting and…uff, they were harder to catch than some starters! With so many spawns, it was difficult to slow down to be able to improve the throwing, so I felt like I had to stop many times and attempt the catch. And this is how with so many biting from this devilish little shark I was left with a pretty much diminished stock of pokeballs All
I think that’s how I feel about Go Fest Mega Finale, if it weren’t for the Armored Mewtwo, it would have been very dull for me. I loved the opportunity to finally have that pokemon, I really didn’t think I’d be getting it anytime soon, so to have it now is really an awesome thing! But what else? Not much if you don’t go for plenty of raids. I loved the first part of Go fest, I had so much fun exploring, catching, and joining 2 mewtwo raids. I’ve come to the conclusion that raids can be quite a lot of fun when you have a many people and are able to join them. However, in this part of the event I think there was a good balance of playstyles (raids, hunting for specific pokemon, shinies, etc) What I loved the most was the randomness of the shinies! I got 24 in total (including a shiny Mewtwo ) and, walking around, the possibility of finding 1 more was always there, which made the game more fun. I also liked having new research tasks in pokestops as the “habitats” changed, that added to the fun and novelty of the exploration. I think both these things (shinies + research tasks respawning) made me want to keep engaging more with the game. The same cannot be said for the finale, though. I got 2 shinies in total, that weekend, one being the 1st Finnekin (the one I chose) found in the wild at the start of the event and the other one was Chespin that popped up at the final minutes. And that was it… And, believe me, I walked a lot and also in new areas with plenty of pokestops. I just
GO Fest 2026 Mega Finale I don’t have much to say about Mega Finale, I think this one wasn’t that spectacular like some from the previous years. I had mega energy to mega evolve every Pokemon that was in raids, so my main focus was on Armored Mewtwo, Mewtwo X and Mega Raichu. I used 2 remote raid passes on Day 1 to get Mewtwo X and I got 1 with great IVs from the 2nd raid. I caught my free Mewtwo Y hundo with special background and since I had 2 I didn’t do more Mewtwo Y raids. I did all other raids in person. Those were 1 Malamar, 3 Raichu, 3 Armored Mewtwo (finally got my first Armored Mewtwo!) I chose Froakie for Timed research and got Greninja with special background that can mega evolve. I didn’t get any shinies which was disappointing. It wasn’t the greatest event, but Armored Mewtwo somewhat saved it.
I’m sure we’ll become lucky friends by then, we just need to send and open gifts every day. I don’t have such rules for trading shinies. I have loads of shinies left from Community days and events, but I only trade shinies I caught in the wild if I have the whole shiny family.
That feels like a booking! In that case, I would like your shiny dratini… However, I’d prefer to trade once we’re lucky friends, because I want to have the best odds of getting an awesome shiny dragonite… (In theory, of course…). 25 days seems like a fair chance? In the meantime I could have other options, too. I already have a shiny dratini, but I have acquired this mental rule for trading shinies… I want to catch them first by myself, either in the wild or whatever. After that, I can trade more of the same to complete evolutions. Do you also have weird rules like these? This wasn’t always the case, but I felt a bit weird after I got a new shiny this way, I don’t know! - it also depends on the pokemon… And, yes, I know there’s a lot of awesome shinies out there that I would like to have and this rule may make that difficult, but for now this is it… Once I have all regionals that I’m missing/costumes/collections, this may change.
Somehow made a huge progress on the Pass. Not even two days ago I was at rank 9 only. Didn’t think I would actually make it.
