I've been thinking about building a small tool for detecting counterfeit/remarked ICs, mainly for people buying older or harder-to-find chips. The idea is pretty simple: take a close-up photo of the chip with a phone and a cheap clip-on macro lens, and have the software look for things that might indicate the chip has been sanded and reprinted. I have a 1984 Texas Silent 703. In CMD mode, it only responds to the "T" key, running the test. Switching between 80 and 132 columns works. Is there a command to print the configuration? I tried CTRL-SHIFT-RTN, but it doesn't respond.

Hi there. In the 70-ties and 80-ties I was quite busy playing with CP/M systems. Now we are in total different times, and CP/M is long gone, but NOT dead.... I recently installed DOSbox-X on my Windows 11 PC, and inside that DOS environment I installed the famous MYZ80 CP/M emulator, version 1.11 Is there a newer version available? 73's from Robbert / TA2ZIX aka PA3BKL

Anyone have any experience with an RM-11 external hard drive for a Osborne 1 computer? The Software disk says "RM-11 Hard Disk Control Software Version 1.02 Copyright 1982 JBS Business Systems" I seemed to have gotten a good image of the disk if anyone else is looking for it. I haven't tried to fire it up yet. I thought I would check if there was anything to watch out for first. After spending a lot of time reverse-engineering the QX-11 video system, I became curious about the QX-16. Both machines use the same 640×400 monitor, and their 80-column text modes look virtually identical, so I wanted to know whether the QX-16 could also display true 640×400 bitmap graphics. Has anyone, successfully, natively? I got the source for 2.33 8080/z80 from github ( https://github.com/johnsonjh/VEDIT ). It's tantalizingly close to assembling. Using ZASM 2.21. It's a long assemble. There's a lot of conditional assembly dependent on prompted-for values, and this complexifies tracking down the errors. Maddeningly the sole error message is UNEXPECTED END OF INPUT FILE, or ERRORS WERE DETECTED, but I'm fairly sure these are from incorrect .INSERT handling. A major red... Read more

Hi all, I've been experimenting with some terminal programs on my Sanyo MBC-555 and I can't seem to get them to recognize any activity on the serial port. I have the add-on serial card, although it appears to be a third-party offering rather than the official Sanyo one. It's connected correctly, but I don't seem to see any activity or data over it in the terminal programs I've messed with. Is the serial port addressed differently than on a typical PC?
