Suspended Member - HC freeze/suspension

If a member has been suspended for a disciplinary issue at a golf club do you think their HC should be frozen to stop them entering Opens and also putting in GP cards etc

Practice Putting Green

It’s been mentioned often enough but don’t know if we’ve ever discussed it... By comments on here it seems not uncommon for folks to say that their practice green doesn’t resemble the course greens for pace & as a result they maybe don’t use it much, but have you any idea why that should be? Afterall, courses might have 19/20 or more putting greens and the practice one will be cared for no differently by the GKs right down to cutting/treatments/coring etc so it’ll be a good indicator for... Charity auction for Prostate Cancer UK

I'm playing a charity event on Monday, raising money for Prostate Cancer UK. The organisers are running an auction of donated items. Many of the lots are golf-related so please have a look: https://www.jumblebee.co.uk/onyourmarksauction If you want guaranteed good karma (instead of just the possibility of winning an auction), then you can donate to my fundraising page here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/shep-onyourmarks Prostate cancer affects 1 in 8 men in the UK, many... Blade or mallet

Curious to know what type of putter people use. Seems to be a trend on tour away from blades now. I would consider Odyssey #7 and all similar types to be mallets but it’s up to you how you view it.

Competition Score Cards

How do you fill in yours? Are they hand written or do you have them printed, you know Name Comp H/C etc? All the mixed comps we've been to this year have them printed with both our names, current H/C, and course H/C. Does your Pro / person in the shop fill it out? Do you have to complete them fully as you go round, all details like say if it was a stableford, then all scores AND ALL POINTS? I'm sure I've read somewhere that we don't have to do this. We do at ours!!! Anyhoo, I'm a tired of... Read more

New laptop needed

Any good mid priced laptops (sub £700) somebody can recommend? My old Macbook is over heating like crazy. Blew out the vents about a year ago which helped a lot, but here we go again. It's 6 years old, but I don't really want to take it in and spend money when it's this old. I use a desktop to play games etc on so all I really need is a handy dandy laptop/chromebook for internet/movies/very minor work. Just starting to do the research and wanted to stay under £700. I've never used a... Read more

Ping i230 or i530 irons

Recently had an iron fitting session with the best fit being the i240 irons/ Alta CB graphite shaft (looking to try the i540 soon). The prices for new sets is eye watering now, so wondering if anyone using the predecessors (i230/i530) have had a trial of the new irons and care to comment. There are comparisons on you tube by pros so not sure how much info is gained from that. Definitely considering going 2nd hand. Ta.

Have you ever played a 'Royal' course?

On Monday, I'll be playing Royal Blackheath (my first 'Royal' club), along with 87 other players called Mark, trying to set a Guinness World Record for the most golfers with the same name playing in a golf tournament. This silliness is all in aid of Prostate Cancer UK. Prostate Cancer affects 1 in 8 men in the UK. Many of them are middle-aged golfers like me. Some of them are my friends and it's inevitable that some of you will know sufferers too. If you'd care to make a donation... Read more

Things You'd Miss if you Moved Abroad

Slime said: I most certainly can. Click to expand... This has got me thinking. If anyone of us was to move abroad what’s the one thing (food or drink) that you would miss the most. I think for me a nice proper Stilton with a drop of port.

Golf Lessons - NE/N Yorkshire

Hi all, Anyone have any recommendations for a coach in the North East/North Yorkshire area? Looking to get back into playing after a couple of years away. Thanks!
