EPQ ideas

Hi! My name is Kitty and I’m currently in year 12 studying biology, chemistry and history. We’ve been asked to start thinking about our EPQ question which is where I’m having some trouble… I know I want it to be related to the history and evolution of equine medicine as it ties all three of my A Levels together. As I’m doing a dissertation I need to have a well balanced argument so I’m not sure how to turn the history and evolution of equine medicine into an argument. If anyone has any... Read more

Naughty horse leading from field

I have posted about this before as one of my horses got dangerous leading in from the field in winter. I know a few of you had the same issues. I have previously tried everything I can think of, headcoallar and rope, halter, chifney, bridle, an expert on ground work, coming in on his own, coming in with his mate, nothing worked. They have come in early over night thus year to give the grass time to get going for winter, which meant leading nightmare horse in. I started straight away with... Read more

The tastiest dog food there is?

So, my lad is a pain in the arse when it comes to food. He’s not very food oriented, never has been but we’ve finally managed to get him to eat pretty consistently by putting him on a raw diet. Currently being fed a variety of flavours of ‘They Love It’ complete minces with added veg, whole fish, GLM powder and salmon oil. The issue comes when we’re staying away, or we have a friend with a dog staying with us. Or if he’s to get even a sniff of something exciting going on (they have to be... Read more

Hay ground feeder - any budget versions?

Has anyone made one themselves or can recommend one? Ideally a floor feeder. My mare absolutely consumes hay, she ate 5kg within less than 3 hours this morning. Shes on straw so usually I’d think ‘she can eat straw if hungry’ but I wasn’t going back up for 5 hours so a friend gave her some more. She was having small holed nets but she yanks so hard the physio commented she had a tight neck, so have started just putting it on the floor. Shes a bit chunky but it’s more just slowing her... What sort of bit is this?

Freddie Kindersley - info - long shot

Ok - I am looking for a little help here. In the 80's I worked for a woman by the name of Freddie Kindersley. She had a small yard in Goudhurst (can't remember the name of it.) It was a riding school. I remember that her hubby worked for the brewery - as in grew hops for... I was curious to see if the yard still existed / Freddie was still teaching. Last I heard - many years ago, she had a son.... Does anyone know who I am talking about / have any info on. As I said - a bit... Read more

The Horse whisperer (Animal communicator)

Has anyone seen this Horse whisperer? Came across her on Facebook. Im not sure how old she is but seems to be quite young 14ish? She does a lot of readings. Just wondered if anyone had seen or used her. I would like it to be true but can not quite get my head around it really! I have seen a different horse communicator work before and was not overly impressed. I would love for it all to be true but am a bit sceptical. This girl is very young and has a lot of videos up... Stable door recommendation

We are about to start building stables, and need some stable doors! Any recommendations for suppliers please? Building will be brick hence the need for separate doors. I’m thinking we will need doors that come with frames, rather than just the doors themselves, but any suggestions welcome! Thanks in advance

And...we have a positive PSSM type 2 test. We are n/px

So I am guessing that I don't need to be so fixated on what neck strap I need as I know from experience that no neck strap will keep you on an exploding PSSM/MIM horse... FFS. Beyond devastated. That makes 7. I don't know what to do now. Retire her? Retire myself & just give up & do Parelli...? I hate everything right now. And the person who doesn't believe in the test has been on UI for ages, so at least I don't have to hear from them. So we will follow the familiar route of... Read more

Wound Dressings

Can anyone recommend a good adhesive wound dressing please? It needs to be adhesive, but I'm worried about ordering ones that are too adhesive in case they caused discomfort when being removed. Thanks.

Fed up and feeling trapped

I’m going to start with saying I don’t really know what I want from this thread. Maybe just the opportunity to let off steam. I’m not happy with my horse situation right now and am feeling a bit trapped as I can’t see a solution. I’m usually a very practical person yet I can’t resolve this. I bought a 7 year old all rounder 2 years ago. From the start I suspected something was wrong. After spending over £10k on diagnostics and treatments I know the horse will never stay sound ridden. They... Read more

Recommend me a heavy duty stall/stable guard

I need to replace my stable guard ahead of winter. Old horse is expert level at limbo-ing under the single chain ones, so a heavy duty webbing affair with at least four corner clips is required. He can be a bargy sod on the occasion, but at the ripe age of 22 I am past trying to predict when that will be so this is belt and braces. Our last one was made of the same fabric as a lampwick girth but all the new ones by Lemieux seem to be polyester. Can anyone recommend one that they have in... Read more
