I'm trying to get some information or guidance on applying for asylum/refugeee status in the USA if a natural disaster was to occur in my country. Lets say hypothetically a upcoming disaster can wipe out my country due to a tsunami from a pole shift scenario, could I theoretically apply for asylum before the disaster occurs and lets say the USA government is aware of this up coming disaster? Does these meet exceptional circumstances? I know this is an out of box question but I was curious... Read more

Dear All I am seeking a second opinion regarding whether I may file Form I-485 based on my approved EB-2 petition without first departing and reentering the United States. I am a Ukrainian citizen. I entered the United States on September 30, 2022, through the Uniting for Ukraine program. I was inspected and paroled into the United States. This was my only entry, and I have not left the country since then. I filed my initial TPS application in December 2023, and USCIS approved it in... Read more
Hi all. A bit tricky situation. USC was born in the USA, but not able to satisfy CRBA requirement (only spent 2.5 years in the USA as an adult - and maybe around 1.5 years as a child). USC is due to give birth in a country in SEA, and the baby will get that country's citizenship. The father is not a USC, nor Canadian. The USC will travel to Canada to pursue post graduate certification (around 2 years to completion), and is wondering if it would be possible to visit the USA with the... Read more

Hi I am in the process of filing 140+485. But I got a serious problem. In my wife case her actual DOB and passport DOB (even all her educational certiifcate) are different. We acquire 2 affidavit for her. But as I understand we need to have non-availability certificate also. Here is the issue When we approched the municipal corporation (Andhra Pradesh, India). They said its alreday registerd with the actual DOB. SO they can not issue a non-availability cerificate. Rather they issuied... Read more
Hi, My name is Ishaana. I am 31 years old. I was moved to New York, USA when I was 6, and never received permanency there. I was granted DACA in 2012, before the age of 18 and I never accrued any unlawful days in the country to my knowledge. In November 2025, due to personal and a family situation, I felt a pull and an obligation to quickly move back to the country of my origin (Trinidad and Tobago). However, being here after 25 years, I find the environment completely jarring, unfamiliar... Read more
So l had applied for affirmative asylum in April 2025 and had my interview scheduled in May 2025. I had all the documents ready and sent them to my lawyer for review. My lawyer said that he has court on my interview date and that he’ll send me to the interview with another lawyer from his office. The other lawyer didn’t review my case and a week before the interview she recommended to 'reschedule' because she said some stuff need fixing and that l'll get a new date within a few weeks. I... Everyone, I want to start this thread as a support group for anyone who is either waiting for an interview or waiting for a decision. I personally am currently waiting for a decision after the interview. The process is draining. It has definitely influenced my mental health. I believe I am not alone here, so I am starting this peer support thread where we can just simply talk to each other and get by the day. I am also thinking about setting up a call line where we can talk and support... Read more
Hello everyone, I have been waiting the asylum decision for about two months. It's been really hard for me and my family. Struggling with finances, and dealing with depression. Im trying to keep myself busy preparing my CV, cover letters, and looking for jobs, but I cant apply since I still dont have the EAD, and have NO idea if I will be approved soon. I have to wait until the end of November to send uscis the I-765 form, and as far as I know, it could take about a month for them to... Read more
I am planning to apply for E2 visa from Pakistan. I have been working in banks in audits and technology. Now I want to apply for E2 with the plan to open a cafe or some fast food shop. Is it okay to apply with a new kind of work that I had not been doing in my career and there will be no queries asked by the visa counsellor or it is not advisable to apply for this kind of business (cafe or fast food) and I should apply to open (say) a consultancy business dealing in entity management...
