Help 😢

Hi - I’m a veterinary nurse who is really at my wits end at the moment I’ve had a male and a female rabbit before who lived to 8 and 12.5 years respectively. I’ve worked for many years with an amazing bunny vet. In March I purchased Ramsey and Theon (2x 10 week old male rabbits) from the Pets At Home store that my then veterinary practice was inside of. I knew 2 males was a risky venture but I also know they CAN live together happily so was happy to do whatever is needed for them to live... Read more

Help with bonding unspayed female

Hi, I need advice please I have a unspayed female who I rescued a year ago, she is 4yr old and has severe anxiety/stress issues from her previous housing situation. My exotic vet cannot risk spaying her as she becomes so stressed going to the vets her eyes bulge and her heart rate is so high. They mentioned about giving her gabapentin but the risk with the anaesthetic and the gabapentin is high. I want people's opinions on what I should do, I'm thinking about getting a neutered male to... All my rabbits over the years. Bonding Snowflake and Moondust. Page 9 for latest bonding.

So we put the six in together. They all immediately began to investigate each other. Frosty kept going up to Snowflake (who went low). Snowflake Tessie and Daisy all shared a litter tray (there are six trays). Frosty has fought with Mottle, Daisy and Peaches. Frosty has claimed a tray so has Mottle. Peaches Snowflake and Tessie are in a small pink tray with Daisy just outside it. Peaches and Daisy have fought a bit. Each fight I gently tell them to stop and either put hands between them or... Bugs - 27/07/17 - 07/09/26

I lost my little Bugs on 7th September, he'd just turned 9. He'd had a very healthy life, only showing illness signs during his last 10 days. I rescued him and his brother Brer a long time ago, when they were only a few months old. I hope they had a happy life with me - they certainly seemed to enjoy themselves. Bugs was the smaller of the pair, a little bit feisty but also the best cuddler! He seemed to become more affectionate after losing his brother back in February. He's buried near... Read more

Rabbit not eating and it's Sunday late afternoon

Hi everyone, my rabbit Betty is off her food and I can't see a vet until morning. This is the second time she stopped eating in 4 days. I live 2 hours from the exotic vet clinic and we are in the middle of a heatwave so on that occasion I took her to my local vet, with a wet towel over the cage and all the windows down. She was very hot and stressed even after a 30 min drive! The vet checked her teeth, temperature and belly. She said it was soft and gave her a motility and an anti... Read more

Painting hutch

I've just bought a new 6ft hutch and hideaway from rabbit-hutches.co.uk to upgrade what is currently in our rabbit enclosure. They have a roof to protect from rain but I'm thinking of painting the new things to help increase longevity. Would likely use Cuprinol Garden Shades as I believe to be pet safe and lasts a long time before recoating. People who have painted their hutches - do you tend to just do the outside or do you do the inside too?

Rabbit elevating her chest by resting paws on bed

My rabbit, Annie, is 8 years old. For a few months I felt like she was moving around in a strange way. She was still active (and eating and pooping normally, jumping up on the couch, etc.) and had nightly zoomies, but when she hopped, she was dragging her back legs slightly. Very very slightly. Then I started hearing a crackling/clicking sound when she moved. I read that could be a sign of arthritis, so I took her to the vet about a couple weeks ago. They did xrays, blood tests, etc. A... I need some help on a sluggish recovery from a mild GI stasis

I am dealing with a sluggish recovery on a mild GI stasis. My bun Andi (a Rex) is at least 8 yr. old, she could be 10 to 12 yr. old, but my guess is just over Age 8. The day of adoption is Aug. 13, 2019, and at the time, SPCA said her age is btwn. 2 to 6, so that doesn't help at all. 2 days ago (Fri), at 8 am, she didn't touch her blackberry treats, but at the time, she's eating her hay on her own. By 4 pm, it's clear she has a mild GI stasis, She's in the midst of bonding w/ my other... Read more

First dental problems at 9yrs old!

Hello, Haven't posted in a while after losing Brer in February followed by our almost 17yr old dog in May. Sad times! I still have Bugs, Brer's brother, who's just turned 9. He's due at the vets on Monday for his annual booster but I've asked them to look at his teeth. I've noticed him recently dropping hard food and getting leaves stuck in his teeth. Closer inspection by me revealed his 2 big teeth at the bottom have grown & now overlap his upper teeth. I've been feeding him softer food... Read more

Hay Shed

I've run out of patience with this company now I'm afraid. It's a shame, because when it's right, it's really good hay. I dislike their marketing strategy too. I'm clearly not the type of person, who their feedback suggests is impressed with what they do, as I just become irritated rather than pleased. My bunnies like Timothy Hay, long and stalky and fresh and sweet-smelling, which is what I order each month. Firstly, I was miffed by the marketing email, that j&b mentioned in... Read more

Bonding a nethie

I've done well over ten bonds but this current one is just not going to plan. Existing neutered male lion head and spayed female nethie. They've lived side by side since march. The male briefly lived as a trio before a scuffle broke out and I decided I wouldn't risk it again (years ago). The male is like a little pup and really friendly. The female is nervous but friendly. On neutral ground they'll graze and she'll even lie down so must feel relaxed to a degree but if the male gets too... Read more
