A friend just buying a 30 ft boat which is priced to allow for the Eberspacher not working. Replacement Eber units are ridiculously priced in relation to the value of the boat. Is it worth paying a professional to attempt repair or is replacement with a Chinese unit the best option. I am sure we could fit this ourselves. Any experience or recommendations?

For those who claim to like motor sailors, this Westerly Vulcan 34 is being offered for free, due to current owners ill health. I have no connection but with all the opinions stated on here thought might be of interest, and would be a shame to be scrapped WESTERLY VULCAN 34 In an interesting location to visit before cruising to a new home base
I don't know where people buy their shore power connectors, or if everyone uses polarity detection once installed... but this recall could be worth reading. Live / neutral pins mis-labelled in a rather dangerous way... Product Recall: Diall 16A Blue Site Connector and Blue Site Socket (Male and Female) (2609-0064)
The CA has just announced that the Shipping Ministry has changed the law on Checking In and Out f or the Unlimited Transit Log (UTL) . You used to have to (theoretically) check in AND out of every port you visited. Following pressure by the CA on the new(ish) shipping minister, a small but significant change in the law has been made. If you are holding a UTL - you NO LONGER need to check in and out of each port you visit. You still will have to check out of Greece and... Read more
Hello, ongoing discussions among the various Imoca circuit stakeholders, in primis the Class, they are seriously considering to stop the release of class certificates to newly constructed boats after the next 2028 Vendee Globe, which effectively means to stop the constructions of new boats after that date. The main objectives they mention are overall cost reductions and lowering carbon impact. Given the huge impact Imoca racing has in (mainly) South Brittany economy, there are of course all... Recommendations for a pre-purchase survey for Northern Ireland please? And someone to look over a Volvo Penta engine? Cheers
I inherited a raymarine tiller ram when buying my latest boat. Ive tested it and it works fine. I also have an old Simrad tp10 that works and I keep as a spare. Would it be possible to drive the ram from the tp10? I like the idea of having the control mounted separately near the bulkhead so It can be reached from the cabin and the cockpit. Also rams are more rugged and weatherproof.

-35% of a normal spring according to KHM Portsmouth and IIRC a Brest coefficient of 22. Useful if you need to plug a foul tide I suppose
I was wondering if anyone on here has had any dealings with this company in I think Hamble Le Rice and if so what your views were
Any recommendations as to where to purchase a 6mm furling line in the Portsmouth/Solent area ?
Can anyone suggest which of the various boatyards on Orwell/ Tichmarsh they would recommend for copper coating?
