I got a pic over night of a 120” 3 year old, this makes two bucks in this age bracket over three spread out farms in SE Ohio. Ehd has destroyed my properties like many on here. I have couple doe and handful of yearling bucks and fawns across the three properties. Both bucks have poor genetic traits that I wouldn’t class in the shooter genetic. Got accepted into crp this year( haven't signed yet) but you guys that have done this did you plant yourself or hire it out? Im plenty familiar around equipment and have access to it. The county has a great plains no till drill i can get, I just don't want to screw it up. I have a couple smaller pollinator plots but I broadcast those with a hand seeder. This one's about 9 acres.

This year has been a challenge with the drought and heat in my area. I kept trying to get my plots greened up and they kept getting roasted! This is my first year with a Woods PSS82 seeder. On one hand I kinda wish I had a no-till drill but I have so many spots that I want to seed but have tree stumps. Built a steel stand for one of my anvils here a while ago today I was fooling around with bolting them together huge difference in anvil noise by bolting them tight. I did put a 1/4” piece of plywood between them also. I used four 5/8” bolts. This is my smaller 135# anvil it’s a Japanese made Multi Production anvil imported in I think in the 1970’s next I’ll build a stand for my 260# anvil I recently bought. Maybe my boys and I will fool around a bit with some knife making.

I think we need to keep a pulse on deer property prices. What has land sold for near you? When I bought my property....the fair market value in this area was about $2000 / acre. That was 18 years ago. Today the same type of land would sell for $5000 / acre.....and not near as much is for sale these days. Lots of demand for 40 to 80 acre parcels....but not sure the price varies that much on size. What say you?

This Spring I'm planting a row of Chickasaw plum seedlings that I'd like to form a 175' long thicket. I've never planted plums and I don't know how long they take to form a thicket. Well I just bought a kubota g1900 with 1200 hours for $1300. I have no idea what I’m doing, but for some reason I’ve wanted a diesel for my camp. I have about 5 acres to mow and sometimes the grass is long. And sometimes I mow a new path or two through the overgrown field. I hope I made a good decision, the guy told me to call him if I ever have an issue with it.

Wanted to start a thread for those in the pheasant's "native" range of the upper Midwest. I'm aware they aren't a native bird but they have adapted to the region over the course of the past 100+ years and thrive under certain conditions.
