Which Music Converter Works Well for Different Devices?

Hello everyone. I frequently move my music between a computer, phone, car stereo, and other devices, and sometimes they don’t support the same audio formats. I’m considering using a music converter to make my collection more compatible without keeping several copies of every song. I’d like something that supports common formats, allows control over bitrate and quality, and can convert multiple tracks at once. Ideally, the converted files should also retain their original tags and album... Read more

AKG Perception P220 → Neumann U87 5-min Mod

Hi everyone, I’m Lion I recently found this forum by chance, and I really enjoy reading everyone’s insights here — there’s so much great information being shared! I happened to come across something interesting related to mic mods — a quick AKG Perception P220 → Neumann U87 modification that’s been discussed on GroupDIY. Here’s the full thread with the mod details: AKG Perception P220 to Neumann U87 – 5-min Mod (P200/P100/P400/P420) And here’s a sound comparison video — it... Read more

Lets talk Stereo recording

This is just stream of conscious meanderings... Record a mono track of guitar - clone it to another track - than EQ the second track put a small 3 ms time delay on and pan the two tracks hard left and hard right - Is it stereo? You record an Acoustic guitar witha SDC and LDC pointed at different places -place each on it's own track - is it a stereo recording or is it dual mono? You record the same Acoustic guitar in a Mid Side configuration - going to one stereo track - what do you end... Read more

Need a good DI for my Yamaha dx7

whats up fellow homerecorders! I need some DI synthesixer recomendations. I have my Yamaha dx7 (Mark I) connected to a patchbay that lines into my Tascam m-216 then going into my rubix 44 interface and fostex a8 and portastudio 244. its fine wheni record it into the interface straight into it but going into the fostex a8 the noise floor is very high like its hard to get the sound to get high enough without distortion and without it just being white noise kind of when ging into tape. So any... Read more

One of the nicest sax and guitar Jazz recordings I've come across.

I found this randomly on Youtube - and it's a jazz guitar and tenor sax. You can hear so much what is a simple recording. Just a great example of the right mics, in the right place - balanced and treated just right! We have to guess what was done, but whatever it was - it's a fine job.

Tascam Model 3 vs M-30

Just wondering about both mixers in regard to connecting each of them to an 8 track recorder, such as a Tascam 38. The Model 3 of the late 70's (smaller version of Model 5) provides four sets of Aux Outs alongside the Line outs. Thus, 4 Line Outs & 4 Aux Outs can connect to an 8 track. This is also provided on the M-35, which I can understand, as its a higher model vs the M-30. But the M-30 came out after the Model 3 in the early 80's, so I would think it would ADD more features, not... Read more

Mic for electric guitar cabinet/room

Hi all, I started recording my Bogner Uberschall and Uberkab with a Zoom H4n, and a SM57. I put the 57 on the grill cloth in front of one of speaker cones and blended it with capsule mics about 6ft back on a tripod, lines the sound I was getting. So I got hooked and upgraded to a Motu M4 and currently learning Reaper. I have the 57 into the M4 and briefly tried the headphone out of the H4 into the line in of the M4 with a splitter cable to try and capture the internal mics, I didn't... Read more
