My 1974 Cb450 started backfiring through the right carb at the end of a rainy ride. It seems to backfire most when I get on the throttle at low rpm, but I also think that high rpms are being affected. I thought that it was the points initially but when I checked it today the timing was spot on. I dont think the mechanical advance would affect it since it would affect both left and right cylinders. What are the two small holes and larger hole for in the barrell next to the butterfly? I cannot get fluid to flow through them from the hole where the idle mixture screw flows through. Does that mean no fuel at idle for that carb?

Hi, I recently bought my first bike which is an 85 Honda cb450sc nighthawk that had been sitting for 15 years. It took a little time but I got it cranking and then cleaned the carbs, and it fired up. I also had to replace the petcock because the old one leaked out the front and was non-rebuildable. When I hit the starter it fires up great and sounds awesome at idle, when I give it any throttle the rpm’s immediately die and it pops through the intakes. I thought I might have missed a jet or... I need a replacement rim for the rear on my 1970 CB350. Which one is more durable with less maintenance? A new chrome steel rim or an aluminum rim? Which is the better-quality rim? Lots of players chasing my money I just want a good rim that will last another 50 years.

bonjour je vis en France dans le Sud,près de la mer. j'ai 75 ans. a 20 ans j'ai eu une honda GB72 que j'ai conservé une dizaine d'années avant de m en séparer pour aller travailler dans le Nord de la France. j'ai toujours regretté cette moto. en 2012, à la retraite, j'ai acheté une cb72 épave mais complète et sans trace de rouille. je l ai entièrement refaite et j ai le grand plaisir de rouler avec elle de temps en temps. j ai egalement une CB750 four de 1972 en parfait état.

Bought a 1974 CB360 with <4000 miles. Had idle issues. Seemed to rev otherwise decently. Air filters were basically toast. Replaced with Common Motor air pods. Pulled carbs. Bowls were a mess. Cleaned. Put #68 and #112 jets in. Diaphragms seemed fine. Replaced intake manifolds just in case. New spark plugs. Put Common Motor voltage regulator in. Put aftermarket mufflers on. Original headers. Don't notice leaks. Sync carbs and idles great now. Seems to rev fine... 74 CB360 Bogging Issues (air pods + mufflers)

After a medium effort of online and brick and mortar store searches, it was apparent that sealed lamps are becoming more rare and the ones available off the shelf don't have the same integrated mounts- so installation in the original housing wouldn't work.
