I have a 1998 350 Vortec motor in which I installed a GM Ramjet cam a couple of years ago. The thing makes a butt-load of low end torque and is a blast to drive, but honestly it idles like a dump truck and I was looking for something with a little more "attitude" without sacrificing much if any of the low end fun. Last week I purchased a Melling # 22280 "Stage II" cam ( .495"/.502" lift, 220/224 duration @ .0050", 110 degree LSA) hoping this will fill the bill. I do have the Comp beehive... 25 years have gone by. 23 of them in the military, I’m not the same person I was before 9/11. Looking back, I had no idea how much my own life would change, physically and mentally, from a terrorist attack 2500 miles away from my home. RIP to 2,977 9/11 victims, and to the estimated 4.7 million people, combining roughly 940,000 direct war deaths and 3.6 to 3.8 million indirect deaths because of the GWOT.
Ok on my cruiser( not our junkyard bracket project lol) Im finally fed up with the huge solid cam that came with my engine. COMP 282s 236@050 .495 The car is doggy as he'll in traffic and Im sick of finessing the clutch and quick shifting simply to not bog in light to light traffic. Anyhow my engine is a flat top piston 350 with ported 882 heads(roughly 8.7 to 8.9:1) 1 5/8 headers Holley Street Dominator duel plane and a 600cfm carb. The engine is backed by an old 3 speed and 3.42 gears and... Cam choice whatcha think?
Don’t know to much about this is this much play normal or is it time for some new bearings? https://videotourl.com/videos/1788927611202-e809e9a5-1059-4367-af7f-f4678e287f6d.mov
Hello I just picked up a 1986 mustang svo with the 2.3L its got ported, polished heads with an aftermarket cam and i wanted to ask around if I should still use 5w30 and the oem oil filter?
I was going through a Ford 400 that I got recently and decided to change the main bearings because they were a little worn. I will admit I used Plastigage so I don't know how accurate the measurements are. All of the measurements came out to .003. Is that too tight or too loose of clearance? The crankshaft was machined and had .010 bearings installed.
It seems like this has come up quite a few times and I haven't seen any visual aid on the web that shows the effects of shifting IAB/IFR. I drew this image up to try and show how I view it. I'm open to suggestions on how it's wrong and it can be updated, but it seems like a good start . I wouldn't be surprised if this is in the wiki somewhere already... Basically, we have a starting IAB/IFR combo called X and Y. Taking away area from the IAB shifts X left while adding area here shifts X... IFR vs IAB
I have a really strange issue with my sbc. The driver side valve cover is basically room temperature (maybe a bit above) and the passenger side is HOT. To the extent that you can't even touch it. the car was warmed up fully and the temperature gauge showed exactly 210 degrees without wavering. What could cause this exactly? the thermostat is brand new and functions properly at 195 degrees and the car has proper coolant levels and type of coolant.
I previously posted questions regarding axel strength on a 9” I plan to install in my 40 Dodge. I was told the 9” I have had a new 28 spline Detroit locker installed in it. Someone responded that Fords have Trac Locs and not Detroit Lockers. I did a little research and discovered Detroit Locker now owned by Eaton makes a unit for a 9” diff. I should have done more research before I bought the 3rd member, but I didn’t and that’s history. My question is; is there a way I can visually identify... Ford 9” Posi
Bought this out of Michigan during the summer. Plans are to SBC and update all the driveline and chassis bits. So I'll be asking questions about everything. Mustang ll kit on order. Basically looking as to what's involved in the engine swap and so on
Hello, this is going to be a long one. I have been putting it off for awhile, but I would like to get some input. Car is 1987 Monte Carlo. #3645 with me in it. 427 4L80 4.10 rear with a 26ish inch tall tire. Dart Block, Scat Crank, and Rods -18 D dish Forged Wiseco Pistons. 64 cc Heads so compression is somewhere around 10.5 to 1 Straub VEPR 228 Runner Heads. These are the Import Casting Clone of the Dart Head. They have a Donnie Sammons port design, and were sent completely set up from... 427 SBC Missing Something
