Good afternoon, everyone. I’m hoping to get some fresh eyes on a crank/no-start issue with my Jeep. Here’s the background. The engine has about 270K miles on it. It was running before the rebuild—not perfect, but there were no major issues. I decided to freshen it up and installed new pistons and rings. I also had the cylinder head worked on, including lapping the valves and replacing the valve stem seals. Since putting everything back together, I have a crank/no-start condition. I got in my Jeep and pushed the start button. There was a bleep and the dash said no smart fob was detected. So I have replaced my old worn stock timing set with a Cloyes Race True Double Roller set. My Technical Service Manual describes there should be 15 links between Crank Mark at 3 O'Clock and Cam Mark at 1 O'Clock. (Taunt side of chain) I think I'm ready to go back together with this thing but a strongly do NOT want to have to redo this job if at all possible. I'm a worrier by nature and a Murphy's Law sort of guy BTW. Does anyone know the number of links or pins this count should be for the... Hello all, Restoring a CJ5 for a friend. Dana 44 HP, 3 inch tubes. SOA. The axle has a 2.5 wide perch already. three hole for moving forward or aft but the holes are 1.5" O/C. After an hour with ai and google, i get the same garbage results. Anyone know of a source? I need to buy new plates either way. I prefer to not drill new plates if i can find correct ones. I am not confident I want them forward yet, still mocking up. Thanks

My 99 tj picks up speed, however at a slight grade in road, it looses speed, won't accelerate , it dies out unless I downshift. There's no codes displayed, no smell, like bad catalytic converter. So wondering if possible bad filter/ fuel pump ? Has 180k on 6cy

1977 CJ W/258 W/Carter 1 bl carb (Smog things long ago removed) bought from an old man. 134k on odometer but it had been towed behind motorhome for about 30k. Bought last December (of 25) and loved how it ran but it had a subtle putter putter at idle. Recently, too dumb to not poke the bear, I put a timing light on it (Ported vacuum advance but disconnected and plugged anyway) and at warm idle, the TDC mark was advanced well before the end of the last timing mark. In the process of cleaning my timing cover today before reinstalling a new timing chain kit, I found this wear on the front of it. After putting the original stock balancer, it appears the rear edge of the rubber inner ring has been dragging against the front of the timing cover. The wear is minimal enough I do plan to reuse it but is something that is frequently seen?

I have a 95 YJ and I am having problems with the front right bolt on my driver's seat. Somehow, before I owned it, the bolt was broken off in the tub frame insert. However, the bolt freely spins inside it and there's no way of removing it. I have the skid plate off while I'm doing some work underneath it, and was able to trim a little bit of the tub brace away to see the underside of it. It must be in some sort of protective housing or something, because the exposed part doesn't spin, yet... Front seat "nutsert" help

Before I lose what hair I have left Ive read my share of questions but haven't see to many for definitive answers. Im running a Weber 32/36 carb on an 4.2 YJ Typical requirements are fuel pressure no higher than 3.5 psi. Using an electric fuel pump that makes more than the 3.5 I run a pressure regulator. Easy peasy, but...take the regulator set to what you think is 3.5 psi and throw in that return type filter and you have about 1 psi of pressure as all the fuel goes right back to... Help with fuel pressure settings and a weber

This is not going to be a short thread. I plan to post updates as they happen, when I can, at the end of the day. So this is "Lousie". A 1980 CJ5, I found on fakebook. The po is a teacher, self proclaimed ex-aircraft mechanic. He sold the cj because his son was coming of age and wanted it. At least that's what he said...whatev...
