Translation Update: “Special Project: Toyotarō Drew It!” Image #106

Roughly every month, Toyotarō provides a drawing of a Dragon Ball (or related…!) character — as well as an accompanying comment — on the official Japanese Dragon Ball website. Following up on the wealth of characters already drawn , for his September 2026 entry , Toyotarō has drawn “ Geppuman ” (or “Burpman”): Geppuman A repeat dine-and-dasher wanted by the Galactic Patrol! His backstory comes off as a bit light on detail, but he himself comes off as a pretty cool character! The character’s name in Japanese combines the word for “burp” or “belch” (げっぷ geppu ) with the English word “man,” writing both together in katakana as ゲップマン ( Geppuman ). The Toei Animation simulcast subtitles, the FUNimation English dub, and the FUNimation home release English subtitles by Steven J. Simmons for Dragon Ball Super all use “Geppuman” as a spelling. Geppuman/Burpman appears exclusively in Dragon Ball Super episode 31 . This drawing and comment set has been added to the respective page in our “ Translations ” archive. Weekend Wiki Wrap-Up

This was a very heavy research week, but it all led to a great, comprehensive page for a manga author that doesn’t get much attention in the English-speaking world. (NOTE: As with everything else across the wiki, not everything on these pages is necessarily complete! We just want to showcase some of the leaps in content and documentation being done.) “ List of Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai – The Hero Avan and the Dark Lord of Hellfire Chapters “: Continuing to work our way way backward and forward in time with chapters for this prequel series — at this point, there’s just a single year’s worth of V-Jump issues to go through for the broadest base of information. “ Jump Victory Carnival 2025 Official Guidebook “: It’s been a few years since we’ve gotten any bonus manga chapters, but it’s always worth keeping up with these attendee pamphlets. “ Yūji Kasai “: This was the big research project for the week! Kasai might be best known for the slapstick Heroes and Super Divers manga over here in the Dragon World, but his work dates back to 2011 contest and one-shot submissions that all contributed and led him to this current workload. There are still a few things to fill in and translate here, but it’s already pretty comprehensive. Enjoy everything you see here (plus everything else the wiki has to offer!), and be sure to also follow us on Bluesky , where we skeet out a random wiki page link every day — you never know what might pop up! Weekend Wiki Wrap-Up

It was another busy week in the trenches! Even with a new podcast episode and article work (both behind-the-scenes and actually published), there was still plenty of wiki work getting done. (NOTE: As with everything else across the wiki, not everything on these pages is necessarily complete! We just want to showcase some of the leaps in content and documentation being done.) “ Complete List of Saikyō Jump Issues “: At this point, every single issue is accounted for! This includes all release dates, and most contents. As I worked backward from present to filling in the holes around the bimonthly reboot, I realized I want to style things differently, so there’s some more work to go in and do with regard to how series are listed, and there are other contents to list out (things like Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai – Xross Blade , now that that’s fully documented, too). “ Complete List of V-Jump Issues “: A lot of the same kind of work is going on over here with V-Jump , catching up with 2026 issues and filling in other details here and there. “ List of Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai – The Hero Avan and the Dark Lord of Hellfire Chapters “: Speaking of V-Jump contents, continuing the weekly process here of loading myself up with a year’s worth of issues while we watch F1 as a group and knock out a bunch of documentation during the downtime. There’s some clever chapter cover recreation work going on that no-one will ever notice… but it’s hard work, and someone’s gotta do it

From the Past Friday: Burger King Board Game

“From the Past Friday” is a weekly column in which we trot out some hilarity from our collective fandom past. Sometimes it’s funny marketing materials, sometimes it’s name spelling curiosities, and sometimes it might just be a neat little trinket we still have kicking around all these decades later. We’ve been plugging away at all this “Burger King” documentation lately, with everything from archiving the press releases to taking photos of the figures to talking about it all on the podcast ! Courtesy of a long-time friend of the site (and generous benefactor), I recently received a series of portfolios filled with old archive material… including this delightful “Volume 11 Issue 6” of the Burger King Big Kids Meal Adventures newsletter, released back in 2000 alongside the first promotion. The real highlight here is the “board game” inside the newsletter, which takes up the full third page (and is intended to be cut out and played with the figures being distributed as part of the promotion). HOW TO PLAY: Before you start, you and your friends must have at least one of your Dragon Ball Z® toys to use on the game. Cut out the Dragon Balls and put them in a hat or bowl. Next, each player must take turns picking a Dragon Ball out of the hat or bowl. The number of stars on each Dragon Ball is the number of spaces you may move your Dragon Ball Z® toy. After you move put the Dragon Ball back into the hat or bowl and mix them up. The first player to reach the Eternal Dragon wins the ga

If you spy on the “ Recent Changes ” page you’ll see a ton of other work that’s not represented here — that’s because there’s a lot of image preparation and uploading going on! There have also been a good amount of minor tweaks and adjustments made to various other pages, either just for things we noticed or as similar preparation for upcoming additions. (NOTE: As with everything else across the wiki, not everything on these pages is necessarily complete! We just want to showcase some of the leaps in content and documentation being done.) “ Muscle Tower “: Kev got things going on this page with some good overview work, including a breakdown of the various floors. “ Thouser “: Terez added in Dokkan Battle information for this character… and you might see a ton of other Dokkan -related tidbits in those aforementioned miscellaneous changes/updates… “ List of Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai – The Hero Avan and the Dark Lord of Hellfire Chapters “: Working backward and forward on this one — at some point it will meet in the middle and be complete! Enjoy everything you see here (plus everything else the wiki has to offer!), and be sure to also follow us on Bluesky , where we skeet out a random wiki page link every day — you never know what might pop up! From the Past Friday: Bubba Trunks

“From the Past Friday” is a weekly column in which we trot out some hilarity from our collective fandom past. Sometimes it’s funny marketing materials, sometimes it’s name spelling curiosities, and sometimes it might just be a neat little trinket we still have kicking around all these decades later. We’ve been sharing a lot about old action figures lately, and several of the articles turned into much larger pieces than originally intended… so for this week’s entry, I wanted something a little easier! When I’m lost for ideas, I sit back and just look around the room to see what grabs my attention. A certain little guy immediately caught my eye, and I knew what had to be done. As the de facto mascot of Temple O’ Trunks , “ Bubba Trunks ” is something (some one ?) that should be familiar to longtime visitors and comrades. I joke often about how sometimes I don’t know which figures or tapes are originally mine or Meri’s, but in the case of Bubba, there’s no question about it. So I sent my own wife some Q&As via email and this is what I got back. Who or what is Bubba Trunks? Bubba Trunks is a “super deformed”/chibi-style plastic piggy bank. At least, that’s what he WANTS you to think. He’s more, so much more than that. He’s an actor, stuntman, traveler — a real renaissance man, a man of the people! Why he’s named Bubba Trunks, I cannot say. I think I just have a habit of calling chonky things “bubba.” Where and when did you get him? I got him from a local New Jersey flea market (w

This last week brings us two very different ends of the documentation spectrum: Burger King and V-Jump stuff! (NOTE: As with everything else across the wiki, not everything on these pages is necessarily complete! We just want to showcase some of the leaps in content and documentation being done.) “ Dr. Slump (1997 Manga) “: Thanks to a few new additions to the archives, we’ve been able to confirm and add in a slew of new manga chapter titles and magazine release dates. “ Complete List of V-Jump Issues “: Likewise, release date and other assorted information has been ported to this respective page! “ Burger King “: There are a bunch of new photos that have yet to be added, but in the meantime we’ve been adding in more press release archives and other historical context. Enjoy everything you see here (plus everything else the wiki has to offer!), and be sure to also follow us on Bluesky , where we skeet out a random wiki page link every day — you never know what might pop up! From the Past Friday: Burger King 2K

“From the Past Friday” is a weekly column in which we trot out some hilarity from our collective fandom past. Sometimes it’s funny marketing materials, sometimes it’s name spelling curiosities, and sometimes it might just be a neat little trinket we still have kicking around all these decades later. In light of the new Dragon Ball Super collaboration with Burger King , it made sense to bring things all the way back around to the beginning for our weekly trip to the past. In May 2000, FUNimation partnered with Burger King on its “Big Kid’s Meal” offering. This promotion included seven different figures, each with a “pewter-like finish” that came with “a light-up base”: “Goku” “Gohan” “Vegeta” “Frieza” “Krillin” “Piccolo” “Super Saiyan Goku” This promotion also included the potential for buyers to mail in the proofs-of-purchase from these figures to receive the “Dragon Ball Z: Z Warriors Prepare” VHS tape. At the time, this was the only way to obtain English dubbed Dragon Ball Z episodes 124 and 125 (then still using the edited numbering of “109” and “110”). AN EARLY RE-RELEASE While a special “Z Warriors Prepare”-branded DVD was planned for sale direct from FUNimation , it was later cancelled in favor of its contents being added to a re-release of the “ Dragon Ball Z: Trunks – Prelude to Terror ” DVD (which appended the two episodes in question). The original press release for this Burger King and Dragon Ball Z collaboration is mercifully still accessible courtesy of The Way B

“Dragon Ball Super: Beerus” Debuts October 2026

In conjunction with a new “ Super Surge Trailer ,” the Dragon Ball Official Site posted an extensive update on the forthcoming Dragon Ball Super: Beerus television series, an updated and enhanced refresh of — at least the early portion of — the original 2015 Dragon Ball Super television series. Story Content Originally announced with just the Battle of Gods remake content , and later teased to also include the Resurrection ‘F’ remake content , this latest trailer now includes several shots from the God of Destruction Champa (Universe 6 vs. 7 tournament) arc , the third overall story arc of the Dragon Ball Super series (and the first wholly-original/non-remake content in the series). Music & Theme Songs First teased by him “liking” a related social media post the other day, the news post and trailer specify that original Dragon Ball Super television series musical composer Norihito Sumitomo will return for the refreshed “Beerus” series. Whereas the original 2015 Dragon Ball Super series debuted with the opening theme song “ Chōzetsu ☆ Dynamic! ” by Kazuya Yoshii and ending theme “ Hello Hello Hello ” by the band Good Morning America (both of which would be replaced over the course of the series, particularly the ending themes which would total 11 by the end), this refreshed series will feature new theme songs. The opening theme will be “ONOGAMI” by MEGATERA・ZERO, with the artist providing the following comment: 自分の人生に大きく影響を与えられるほどドラゴンボールを小さいころから見てました。「オノガミ」は自分がドラゴンボールを見てきた中で悟空
