Ok I think I'm losing my mind a bit trying to figure it out. How do all the sprokets, hubs and different bolts are supposed to be aligned or installed, and does it actually matter? I lost my timing after doing timing chain guides. I'm trying not to grenade the engine. Does it happens how all of these are installed, or not? Does it matter where these bolts and holes are in relation to each other, in relation to the locking tools? I'm confused. I... Low vanos oil pressure - in search of the cause
Trying to chase an individual audio issue. If anyone is in the SoCal area, I’d kill to be able to test your amp! I have very low volume coming from the front door mid speakers. The tweeters (which the crossover also services) are fine. When I plug the input from the car door harness into the mids, they play, albeit with a fuzzy quality. So the speakers themselves aren’t to blame I believe. The crossovers have just been replaced to the same issue recurring. Does anyone have any ideas?
I have had my beast at the track a few times now. Starting to mess with the setup which is half the fun. I was wondering about having a thread for people that track their cars? I know from my research that there are a few that take there beasts to the track. It is really what these cars are meant to do. I put in some EBC yellow stuff pads and so far they have been good. No fade at the track and just a bit of squeaking just before the car stops on the street. I would rate them as comparable... E60 M5 track thread
Hey everyone, I've had an account here for a while but never posted much. I've always enjoyed making these threads to share ideas and learn from each other so figured I'd start one here. In late 2023 I bought a nicely optioned but somewhat high mileage 2000 M5 in silverstone over black extended leather on one of the popular auction sites, and surprise surprise, it is a complete piece of ****. "Well sorted" my behind...but anyways I get what I deserve buying an old BMW site unseen. So follow... 2000 M5 Auction Buy Mistake - A Build Thread
I made a stupid mistake while bleeding my brakes and clutch today and got air in the clutch line. What is the best way to correct this? I typically use a Motive pressure bleeder for this kind of work. What happened is I used up all the fluid I had for the brakes and did the clutch slave last. So I thought ok, reservoir is completely full of fluid. I can just use air to push a little fluid through the clutch line, as long as I don't do too much. Forgot that there's a separate partition... Help with clutch slave bleed (6MT)
Hey everyone, I’m attempting to simulate an S85 engine in Ricardo WAVE and looking for: Warm-engine WOT logs: RPM, throttle, VANOS positions, airflow, lambda, ignition and temperatures. Ideally actual intake/exhaust cam positions for both banks—all four cams. Measured stock cam profiles: intake/exhaust lift versus angle. A Cam Doctor report, graph, scan or numerical file would help. Stock cars are ideal, but modified-car logs and partial data are welcome... F1 Sound Header Project! Looking for M5/M6 logs, VANOS data and Stock cam measurements
Hey guys, Currently sourcing parts for my E60 M5 project and I’ve come across both Euroconnex and GemsAutocraft quite a bit. Just wanted to ask if anyone here has personally done business with either of them before, especially for: OEM / performance parts S85-related items manual swap components transmissions international shipping Mainly trying to gauge: legitimacy communication shipping times overall experience whether the parts... Anyone bought from Euroconnex or GemsAutocraft before?
I’ve been trying to resolve this issue with my M5 for several weeks now without success. I’ve checked the timing and tried a different ignition kit, but I’m getting the same result. I also tested my ionic modules in another vehicle—where they work perfectly—and tried the other car's modules in mine, yet the engine still won't start. I’m running out of ideas; I’ve even verified the timing, and it’s correct. I’m wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem before.[ATTACH type="full"... Hi all, as some of you may be aware, I’ve spent the last 18 months pursuing a ‘modernisation’ of the SMG 3’s shift performance. It’s taken me down some pretty deep rabbit holes, especially around the tuning of the MSS65 DME. That is because, believe it or not, the majority of the control over the shift execution of the SMG is handled by the DME. What I have landed on is something I call BENIKI’s SMG Modernisation Tune. I have developed a fully integrated Windows app that allows - through... Integrated tuning app: DME + TCU Patching and Flashing
Sorted sills and petrol filler cap rust at C&S Coachworks - kudos to them. Then I managed to pick up some new unused Russ Fellows headers. These will be getting fitted along with getting front hard brake lines done which came up in MOT. After that I intend to get the car tuned to remove the check engine light that comes up intermittently due to sports cats, and to get best from the headers. Q1: can anyone recommend a good tuner who's done good mapping on these cars? Ideally nearer to... UK E39 progress and questions
I have designed some AN10 adapters for the gulf oil filter housing and had them CNC machined out of 6061-T6 Aluminium and anodized in black so that they look discrete. They are the correct M27 x 1.5 thread, M26 adapters were far too loose for my liking, these provide a nice solid thread with the original housing. I have tried to make them as low profile as I possibly could to save on space, as with most installs with these housings and certainly in my case fitment can be tight. I have 5...
