Pike ID confirmation

I just picked up a trio of young pikes I had ordered as Lenticulata but I'm pretty sure they're Ladder pikes. Only got one pic because I'm trying to avoid spooking them but it should be enough to get some input on what species they are. Any thoughts?

Second time in the hobby…

Second time in the hobby after having to sell up a few years back. Here’s my grow outs that’s I’ve currently got in an 8x4. They’re all 8-10”

My perch journal.

I hardly participate any longer in forum activity but for those who know me pretty well from my past will be aware that I have a real soft spot for the European Perch. To such an extent that my once tropical 360g tank is now a cold water perch tank. I was also once a keen angler, though hardly go nowadays, but I thought it was time to come out of angling retirement and get on that saddle again. Back in my angling days my biggest perch was only around the 1lb 8oz mark, small really when a... Read more

Pond pumps, aerators, fountains

Hi everyone, I’ve been trying to understand how oxygen levels affect fish health. My pond looks clean, but sometimes fish stay near the surface. I read that low oxygen can be a problem, especially in warm weather. I’m wondering: What are the clear signs of low oxygen? Do plants alone provide enough oxygen? When do you decide to add a pond aerator? Would really like to learn from your experience

Automatic water changes?

I keep seeing people using "automatic water changes" Im just wondering how to set that up. if anyone can link a video or something about it id appreciate it.

Smaller pima in 4500 gal, ~16"-18"

I bought my first two arapaima this summer at ~5"-6", $225 each and housed them together first in a 240 gal. They were easy and started taking cut fish readily after a couple of days or so. One also took to catfish pellets. They were jumpy though and afraid of me. After a month or so I noted the one taking pellets and fish grew 2x faster than the other one. After another month or two, it was ~16"-18" while the one that refused pellets was only ~8"-10". They always kept together... Read more

Looking for a help to ID recent purchase (Fogo or Royal siks)

Looking for a few opinions, I bought two Fogo peacock Cichla marinae online. I’m second guessing myself and done a lot of research and picture comparisons. Wanting to know what everyone thinks. Only been in my tank for 8hours. So had a chance to proper settle. They are 7inches. I had a feeling they might be Royal Siks. But now looking at pictures I’m swaying back to Fogo. Just not 100%. Uploaded a few pictures (still a bit stressed and washed) ... Read more

I think I’ve finally done it

Finally an aqua scape that hasn’t declined into an absolute mess after 3 months. I think I’ve finally done it, just a small 30 gallon/130 litre. Not sure if I’ve done any particular style or whatever. I’m just happy it’s basically worked. Just a few cherry shrimp (my first time also).

New venture. - European perch (perca fluviatilis)

Hi guys, I haven't been active for a while, just logging in once in a while to browse, but rarely taking part in any conversations. That isn't going to change much really but I thought it was worth mentioning a development which is unfolding and should come to fruition during the next couple of months. For those of you who got to know me over the years you will be aware that I am getting rid of my fibreglass tank, and all the fish too. I have a home for all the fish (a fish store about...
