...and I'm not talking about her 11.5" beam! Cleaning out an infrequently accessed locker, I stumbled upon a curious relic that took me a minute to place - This is a "core sample" taken by my dad about 15yrs ago from the cabin top of this humble 1983 Morgan 323 during the installation of the chimney for a diesel heater on the port forward bulkhead! It's upside down, but this consists of I-don't-know-how-many layers of fiberglass in three courses, and half an inch of resin-saturated airex... Read more

I am late in seeking advice on this. My vessel has two scallop shell vents on the aft coaming. I have ignored them for years. One has an old, non-functional vent fan that I have not figured out how to remove. Impossible to access. Each vent has a long flexible hose, like dryer hose. The starboard hose goes into the engine compartment, where I have a fan that sends hot air out the vent when under power. The port vent hose runs down to the other side of the engine and air is brought in... Read more
I have two tanks in my boat, one under each salon settee. That is an estimated 90 gallons, but is probably less. Is that standard on 382s, 3s, and 4s? Does anyone have more and if so, how? Does anyone have less? I think some of the earlier 382s had less. Thanks for any information.
Hi, Does anyone need the insert that goes into the table? It’s free, just pay for shipping.
I am looking for some advice. My Yanmar 3QM30 is fresh water cooled, and recently, after a short run in and out of the harbor, I noticed some water in the fiberglass pan under the engine. I traced the water to the weep hole on the raw water pump (the version with the 12 vanes on the impeller). I installed new seals and impeller, and the shaft looked and felt fine. ( I had a new shaft machined about 10 years ago.) Started her up, and ran at idle speed for a good while, and noted no more... Read more
Can anyone identify this pump, model, and is it the original type? I would like to get a rebuild kit for it, the pump generally looks in good shape but thinking the rubber parts in it need to be new.
Hello Sailors: New to the forum here as I purchased a 382 in April and am looking to make the following upgrades this coming spring and seeking advice. All new standing rigging Replace mast & boom with taller mast and shorter boom move traveler from cockpit to cabin top Any and all advice is welcome. Upon completion, I'll order new sails. Thank you all Jim Stubbs SV Persephone email: hhisailloft@yahoo.com
Morganeers!!! It is very important that we keep the Morgan 38 board alive. The sharing of ideas and information is amazing. Mark Pearson for years now has been the pivot point of the effort to keep the Board active. For him to do this it takes a great deal of his personal time and a fair amount of his money. In the past, we the users of the board have contributed something to help defray the costs involved with running the board. So please open up your hearts and wallets and be so good as... Read more
We lucked out last weekend when one of our most important systems (steering) failed while at the dock and in a very controlled setting. It very easily could have happened when we were under way. We were peacefully asleep in the middle of the night at our temporary home slip in Bremerton, Washington on Friday night. Suddenly there was a loud grinding noise and the boat lurched to port and into the dock like several 200+ pound men had jumped onto our deck at once. My wife screamed... Read more
So I made a mould and laid up a carbon fiber jib roll tacker. My rolled jib measures about 3.25" so that's the ID of this. My asymmetrical spinnaker has another snap shackle for the down haul line but one could be added on this easily. Has radiused ends so it can slide up the rolled jib without snagging or damage. I'll see if I can get it tested in a week when I go out again. Now I have the mould I could make more if anyone is interested.
OK… A survey for the group Do you have an air conditioner? If so, where is it located?
I'm considering a small vent hatch for the head on Sonata. Roughly 12x12" +/- Has anyone installed something like this. Any real world feedback? If so, what did you do to trim it out inside? Installation recommendations, etc.? Thanks, Mitchell
