need budget sander/hepa vac recommendations

hey all! I used to have a festool setup which was awesome but it was stolen. I used to run a full scale painting company, few years back scaled it back to just me. I didn't invest in a new sander/hose/dust extractor when I had the money.. for a couple good reasons but very unfortunately I haven't done any exteriors yet this summer, and consequently I only have a couple hundred to spare for a new setup. I am bidding a lead job and need to get my equipment prepared. Anyone have recs on... need budget sander/hepa vac recommendations

Apprentice responsibilities

I was just having a conversation and we were talking about apprentices. I just hired a new one (he starts in a few weeks) and I was talking about how hard it was to find someone who wasn't a 35-40 year old who was 'rediscovering themself' and wanted to be a first-year millwright apprentice. It was crazy difficult to find a young guy who wanted to work. During the conversation I mentioned what I consider to be the responsibilities of an apprentice, and in addition to showing up on-time and... Apprentice responsibilities

What's the best money you ever spent?

For me, it was probably my Ram Promaster cargo van because of the freedom it gives me to live the life I choose. What about you? What's the best money you ever spent?

Is a Lithium Trolling Motor Battery Worth It for Regular Fishing?

Hello everyone. I’m looking into upgrading the battery setup for my trolling motor and keep seeing lithium batteries recommended. I currently use lead-acid batteries, but the weight and limited runtime have me considering switching to a lithium trolling motor battery. If you've made the switch, how much did you notice in runtime, weight, charging time, and overall performance? Are lithium batteries reliable enough for frequent fishing trips, and do they actually last long enough to... Is a Lithium Trolling Motor Battery Worth It for Regular Fishing?

How to Resurface safely.

I am trying to smooth out surfaces on an old Victorian home built in 1905. I believe there is lead paint and it should be tested because of this pattern appearing almost everywhere. Please advise. This is prob 3 layers of paint or more so sanding it will get dust everywhere.

How to eliminate paint bubbles once and for all?

Painted a house recently and have encountered a problem. Bubbles continue to form on the clapboard, but only on a portion of one side of the house. This side of the house does get sun for half the day, and it is facing toward a back channel of a river, but is one house in from the back channel. Back of the house gets full sun, but no bubbles. Paint used is Benjamin Moore Regal Low Luster. I have returned and scraped bubbles off, primed them with Extreme Bond Primer, sanded them, and... How to eliminate paint bubbles once and for all?

Greying new cedar to stain

I was tasked with repairing and staining three cedar pool structures, and part of the project required replacing the trim boards on four posts. The new cedar obviously doesn’t match the older, weathered wood and won’t accept stain the same way. I had some 30% vinegar left over from a previous project and decided to experiment with the steel wool and vinegar method for aging the new cedar. I soaked a steel wool pad in the vinegar and applied the solution to a test area. I had read about this... Greying new cedar to stain
