Hello, This forum helped me when I was trying to get info so I wanted to make a post that will maybe help others. Context: I had my first experience with a pilonidal cyst about 6 months ago, I had itching and pus leakage and had to ask my boyfriend to check because I couldn't really tell what was going on. He told me that there was a small hole, I also had a fever that day and so we went to the ER because we were worried there was some weird infection. The fever turned out to be unrelated... Read more

Hi guys, I'll try and keep this as brief as possible, but I do have a tendancy to over-type, so apologies in advance! I've had a total of 6 sugeries for a pilonidal sinus now, starting when I was 17 (I'm 23 now). Each time apart from the first surgery has been an open excision, and each time the wound has failed to heal, except to grow very small. About a month ago I developed another abscess as a result of a sinus (think I've got that right!) and ended up in my local hospital having an... Read more
Hi guys, I'm curious to hear other opinions on my strange health mystery the last 6 months or so. I'm a 24 year old male. Around December, I started feeling really sleepy, worn out, and exhausted all the time. I hunt a lot in the fall and live in a Lyme area of WI, so for the longest while, I suspected Lyme. I eventually explored that, treated for it, and tested negative after extensive tests. All the while, I have always had this strange, small marble sized bump beneath my tailbone just... Read more
So it seems I've got a case of the pilonidal. Last Monday, I drove 11 hours, then drove five more hours over the next two days. Two days later I rode in a car for another two. It was that night that I noticed my tailbone was hurting, because when I go to this particular house I always sit on the tile floor and I just couldn't get comfy. The next morning was the same deal, so I spent most of the time laying on my tummy. That night, two more hours in the car and I didn't really think anything... Read more
Hello, I had surgery for my pilonidal cyst 40 years ago at the age of 18, and I'm now 59 years old. Over the years the area has gotten a bit inflamed and somewhat painful at times, but nothing too serious. Unfortunately, 6 months ago I began having pain in the area of my old scar and sitting started to be painful. I realized that a small bump had formed within the scar. It took me a while to get a referral through my HMO, but I finally got an appointment with a colorectal specialist, after... Read more
My Pilonidal cyst is back, this time i have swollen lymphnodes on my groin And pain in hips, what is worrying is the pain on the hips, it feels like the poison in my tailbone has been attacked by my lymphs and on the way round i now have pain in both hips. The lymphs have stopped swelling, although i am worried i have something really wrong in my hips (bone cancer or something) is it normal to have a p.c. swell, then drain and have these problems? I am 40 and had this since 20 with an... Read more
My wound fully healed and is fully closed as of last week after 9 weeks, which for an open wound incision I've heard is very quick. I am 17 and attend college and don't feel any pain and little discomfort during long days of sitting, so I don't think that is a concern. I am not overweight and am aware of moisture being a big cause of pilonidals, so I am very alert on keeping the area dry and clean, but I am very hairy so was wondering if I should consider hair removal cream or laser removal... Google symptoms and come across information about a Pilonidal Cyst. Look up doctors that may be... Read more

33F and live in the uk. I’m feeling so down about this disease. It started when I was 19 with a massive PS which was drained. Since then I have had a surgery at 21 and it stayed away for 12 years and now it’s back. I just don’t want to go through multiple surgeries as I am an anxious person so it terrifies me. I asked my doctor if I can do the laser but apparently I would be under general anaesthetic for that too so thought what would be the point other than quicker healing. I guess I’m... Read more
