I have 5.5 gallon with low CO2 injection. The plants are fairly healthy and I generally see no nitrates on my water tests. I am not using fertilizer, instead relying on invertebrate and fish poo. I keep ramshorn snails, a betta and an assassin snail. My problem is I have this green hair algae that ramshorn snails will not eat, and if I add shrimp to the tank, the betta will go after them--i think because they move so quickly. Are there any slow... Trying to get rid of hair algae.

Kinda almost planted tank related, we set up a frog hotel today! For anyone unfamiliar, native frogs have a hard time competing with cane toads and finding appropriate habitat. The point of building a ‘hotel’ is to give them a safe place to chill either long term or on their travels. Here in Aus (and I’m sure everywhere there’s frogs!) they love drain pipes, especially down pipes from the house gutters. Here in QLD, it’s not unusual to find them in your toilet, staring up at your bum if... Welcome To The Frog Hotel
For the life of me I can’t identify this plant.
Before starting this journal, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Jess at Waterbox Aquariums. Not only are your Aquariums wonderful, affordable and easy to customize, but the service you have provided with all my emails, questions and final purchase have been stellar. I cannot thank you enough. Now onto the build.. This will be my first truly custom, overflow and sump specific Aquarium I have owned. While the concept is still a bit daunting, I am sure over... Greenspace: A Waterbox Custom 75GAL Build
I need some help. I was recently gifted this 2.5gal NICREW tank, and decided to turn it into a shrimp tank for my son. I started from scratch, and I am about 2 months into the cycle. I started early with some java moss thinking I would stop there, but now I feel like I need to add some plants for aesthetics, water chemistry, and shrimp quality of life. Also, I love plants. I have a lot of experience with plants, but none with aquatic plants, and I have been spinning my wheels for a month... Beginner Desperate for Plant Advice and Strategy in New Nano Tank for Shrimp
I recently had a whole home water softener installed, I tested my water from tap and the kh is 20 with the gh at 1 and a ph of around 7.5. I have planted tanks with shrimp and snails along with fish and know that the invertebrates need a higher gh but not sure what I need to do to get my tap water right for my aquariums. Any help is greatly appreciated
Hi Everyone, A M-F pair of Australe Killifish I purchased about a month ago have started to consistently sit on Nymphoides (hydrophyla) leaves at the top of the tank for 98% of their day, often curled right beside each other right at the water line. At first I thought this was a short term (and possibly fatal) stress response to a delay in my water change schedule, but after completing a water change almost a week ago, they have not stopped the behavior. Does anyone have any idea what this... Australe Killifish Pair Sitting on Nymphoides Leaves for a Week??
So I finally got the new office tank to replace the current Waterbox 6 mini - this UNS 60s is 10 gallons measuring 23.6" x 14.2" x 7.1" or 60 cm x 36 cm x 18 cm. The glass is 5mm thick and ultra clear. I was happy to see it come with a mat. IF ANYONE HAS ANY IDEAS OR CONSTRUCTIVE CRITISM PLEASE POST IN THE COMMENTS. As I said it's replacing the office tank so it will have the pothos, monstera and mondo grass currently growing emersed. I've also picked up a red bog lilly locally and... UNS 60S - 10g Shallow
I just got an order of two Crypt Tiger Spiralis, a Marble Queen, and Bacopa Salzmanni stems. All the leaves are in good shape, plants are healthy, but the roots on the crypts and echinodorus are partially melted. I have them floating in a quarantine tank atm. Do I trim the melted roots? I think all of them still have some white, healthy roots, just most are brown. And for disinfection, I've done RR on plants in the past, and some were fine, but some melted away afterward (no species of... Shipped Plants -Melted Roots & Disinfecting?
