Tuna 9/15/2026 with Captain Clayton

@Tallguy , @SilverFly , @jonTheFisherman and I went out for tuna with @Nick Clayton yesterday on the boat he’s running this year. The Reel Electric with Mutineer Charters. It started early with @jonTheFisherman banging around stoves and pans at 3:30 am in the campsite to make coffee. Followed by a 4:15 AM check in and 4:30 am departure from the dock. They start early on this charter, so a good chunk of the run out was in the dark but also got us to the grounds... Read more

Up at the crack: fishing day breakfasts?

What are your go tos? I fish daybreak year around in western Washington. Especially coho and SRC fishing in the salt. Most of the year, I can have a civilized bite (in my kitchen) before heading out with a mug of hot coffee to fish. Come coho season, especially July and August, making a ruckus in the kitchen at 3:30 am after my alarm already woke up the whole house, is a sure way to end up on the better half’s bad side. For years, my primary solution was a cliff bar or Starbucks if open... Read more

Adult Dragonfly and Damselfly Pattern Recommendations

Anyone have adult dragonfly and/or damselfly dryfly patterns that they have fished successfully that they are willing to share? I have a few in my box that will get the fish to rise, but the hookup rate is horrible. There are always a few days a year when the fish are really agressive that remind me I need to improve what I have in my flybox. Thanks!

Flexo Crab - Early Attempts

I decided to add a few new patterns to my annual MGTU banquet donation of a large boat patch chock full of saltwater patterns. One of the new ones I thought I'd try is the Flexo Crab, a popular flats pattern. From the tyer's viewpoint it was an intimidating pattern that just didn't fit the mold in terms of traditional tying techniques. However, with the help of a few videos and other tying resources, I think I figured it out. Working with materials on hand I did stumble a bit... Read more

Coho run coming up short?

20 gage shotguns

My oldest son and I have been doing some trap and little bit of bird hunting. He is a stout almost 13 yr old and we’ve been using a couple mid-20th century european made guns one a 12 and the other a 16 gage. Both are fine guns but the 12 is on the light side and has alot of kick even with target rounds, and ammo isn’t readily available for the 16 to shoot at the club. Now I’m not a huge gun guy and TBH I’m a bit of a wuss when it comes these things. Also the other siblings will be old... Read more

Maiden Voyage

I bought a pram about a month ago and have been patiently waiting for the lakes here to cool down. After the last couple weeks of “Fall like temps” I decided to test the waters of the local C&R lake. While waiting I had figured out a way to get the boat in and out of my truck without damaging it or myself and I was ready to give it a go. Got the boat in the water without any issues and quickly tossed in the Garmin to check the temp. Surface temperature was 61, definitely fishable. Hit a few... Read more

8-foot pontoon boat

I'm looking for a used but in good condition pontoon boat, 8-foot long. Something along the lines of a Bucks Southfork or their old 8-foot bronco.

Warden Lake

Anyone fish Warden lake anymore? Me and my posse used to go over there for the March 1st opener we could usually count on some chunky rainbows and then toward the end of our three or four years of that particular trip we started getting into some decent browns which were a surprise to me. Curious if it still fishing half way decent?

Wanted Leader /Tippet Gauge.

Hello, Anyone have a tippet/leader gauge like the old Mike Rite or Fishpond gauge? Willing to pay a fair price. I also have fly lines to trade and other fly fishing items. Thanks for lookin.

Rockwell/Delta 9" Contractors Saw

This may be a longshot, but what the heck. I'm downsizing, and this needs to go. Like the man says, we have here a 9" Contractors Saw. Yeah, it's a weird blade size, but I do have a good selection of crosscut and rip blades to go with it, and an 8" dado set. I built an outfeed table, and the whole thing measures about 3'x5'. It's got a very nice Jet fence and will rip to 30" wide. The best thing about the package is the motor I've added, a workhorse Leeson 2HP which can be wired for 120 or... Read more
