There is a forum on Facebook focusing on stolen merchandise, missing persons, and missing pets. It is sad how many unsolved cases exist on the Big Island. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1022338047800579/ There is also a companion group (Stolen Stuff Hawaii) based in Oahu. I noticed a lot of shots of possible suspects in a some posts. I'll let our resident in-house attorney at large comment on whether there are legal consequences in posting hearsay claims.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE September 7, 2026 The County of Hawaiʻi announces that the online registration platform for Transient Vacation Rentals (TVR) is now live. The new online platform makes registration faster and easier for TVR operators. People and businesses renting out rooms, houses, condos, or similar shelter to transients for fewer than 180 consecutive days, whether hosted, unhosted, or in the person's home, are required to register their TVR with the County. Registration provides the County and the public with current information about transient rental operations throughout Hawaiʻi Island and furthers the enforcement of County requirements such as parking and timeframes for responding to neighbor complaints. Existing TVRs with valid permits (STVRs, NUCs, and B&Bs) prior to Sept. 1 are deemed registered and will be sent an email with further instructions. I'm fixing my new house in HPP on the sunbelt and I'm about to order flooring. I found some Revwood Plus laminate that we love but I don't know how it will hold up in a non-A/C house on concrete. I'll be overlaying it on existing tile. I saw 2 previous posts about this from over 10 years ago but I didn't see a consensus. Will I regret this in 5 years? I don't really like plastic floors which is why I'm resistant to LVP, but I'm more resistant to a floor I need to replace in 5 years. Anyone with real experience and advice would be appreciated!
