Hello. So I have had Q4OS Andromeda for about a month now and I have had persistent issues with connecting to Wifi in different places, specifically at school. Whenever I try to connect to the school wifi, I get the error "Connection attempt failed! SSID not found" from the TDE Network Manager. The school has a guest wifi that does not need a password, which is what I'm trying to connect to. I sometimes find it connected already when I turn it on, but then for some reason after a while it disconnects I also tried reconnecting using different methods like nmtui and the Network Manager from software center, but to no avail. I have tried it on other devices like my phone and had no issues. My issue is similar to this user's post: https://www.q4os.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=4072 , except that I dont need a password for the wifi. If anybody has an idea of what is causing it and if theres a solution, it would be greatly appreciated. The new 6.9 stable release is based on Debian Trixie 13.7 and features the latest stable Debian kernel, important security updates, bug fixes, updated Trinity desktop packages, and a few Q4OS specific improvements. It includes all cumulative updates since the previous Andromeda stable release. Installation media are available in the Downloads section: https://www.q4os.org/downloads1.html All updates are being rolled out through the Q4OS repositories as well, so existing installations will receive the new packages automatically via the standard system update process, there is no need to reinstall.

Hello, I have to use the "nomodeset"/Terminal fix because the boot up on my Acer Aspire One D260 creates a black screen or graphic issue. If this fixes the black screen, make it permanent by editing /etc/default/grub in your terminal, adding nomodeset to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT, and running sudo update-grub Could a permanent fix be created for the further versions of the OS ? Thanks.

I know that there has been a lot on this topic. I normally do a clean install of Q4os, but this time I decided to do an in place upgrade from Gemini to Acquarius unti the next time there is a major LTS (beyond Andromeda I followed the instructions on the attached screenshot from the Q4os team (l I had a massive upgrade. When I typed in get-q40s-version in the terminal, it returned "5.10-deb12u1". The next day chrome and firefox updated, but since then (10 days) no further updates. When I type sudo apt update I am told everything is up to date, but I get the following two notes: N: Repository 'Debian bookworm' changed its 'firmware component' value from 'non-free' to 'non-free-firmware' N: More information about this can be found online in the Release notes at: https://www.debian.org/releases/bookwor … free-split My question is two-fold. (1) Are these notes an issue? The debian website says to use "deb https://deb.debian.org/debian bookworm main contrib" in the 20_debian.list file and omit the "non-free" Is this keeping me from receiving updates? (2) In doing the in place upgrade, I finished up with sudo apt update, sudo apt upgrade, sudo apt autoremove, sudo apt autoclean, sudo apt clean. I just saw an article saying I have to use "sudo apt full-upgrade" instead. Is this a problem? Everything seems to work fine, except for two programs, which I reinstalled. Thanks so much!

I've found looking around on other forums that a 32 bit file is needed for this particular processor for proper Linux boot. Presently it gets almost nowhere. Here's what Google AI says, and it makes sense to me: ======= The Intel Atom x5-Z8300 processor has a 64-bit architecture, but almost every computer built with it uses a restricted 32-bit UEFI firmware. [1] This mismatch means a standard 64-bit Linux USB installer will refuse to boot on your PC. You need a setup specifically configured to bridge this 32-bit to 64-bit gap. ======= There are instructions as to how to add a file to the EFI | boot directory of a rufus generated installer USB stick. Add the Boot File: Before unplugging the USB drive, open it in your file manager. Go into the EFI folder, then open the BOOT folder. Download a file named bootia32.efi (available on open-source repositories like GitHub) and drop it directly into that BOOT folder. [1] But it appears that someone posted in the forums 3 years ago, that this type of early Atom processor that uses 32bit UEFI simply cannot use Q4OS. is that actually the case?

Hello and sorry if this is not the right place for My post. I really want use Q4os in my notebook with a gtx 1050. I read the documents and Say that i have to install nvidia drivers and nvidia kernel dkms. The thing is that when i install nvidia drivers this force me to remove nvidia kernel dkms and force me to install instead nvdia Open kernel dkms but the documents Say that the Open flavor don't works in Pascal gpus like mine. So i get trapped in that loop. I already use Q4os in other olders PCs but for now im gonna change to another distro for this one, i wanted to report this maybe could be helpful. Greetings.

We would try pavucontrol-qt first. The Device Manager only confirms that the USB hardware is detected; audio output selection is handled by the PipeWire/PulseAudio layer. Install it with: $ sudo apt install pavucontrol-qt Then run: $ pavucontrol-qt In the "Output Devices" tab, the Focusrite 2i2 should appear. Select it and, if available, set it as the fallback device. While Audacious is playing, check the "Playback" tab as well and make sure its stream is routed to the Focusrite. For diagnosis, please post the output of: $ pactl info $ pactl list short sinks $ aplay -l $ inxi -A The `aplay -l` output should show the Focusrite as a USB audio device. If it appears there but not in pavucontrol-qt, the USB/ALSA side is working and we can investigate the PipeWire configuration.

I'm evaluating Q4OS by running Andromeda 6.8 TDE from a live USB on an old Fujitsu P400, with the 'middle' level user profile. Having installed Audacious in the live environment, it plays through the default sound hardware on the P400 motherboard without issue (I have no idea of whether the software environment is ALSA, Pulse Audio, Pipewire or something else). What I want to do is to play music through my separate hi-fi installation, for which a Focusrite 2i2 DAC/ADC is USB connected to the PC. This configuration works well when I boot Win 10 from the SSD or when I boot Fedora 44 from a different SSD. Under Q4OS I can 'see' the Focusrite hardware in Control Panel>Device Manager, in 2 places in fact: under USB and under Sound, but I cannot understand how to make the system use that hardware device. How do I do that?
