Jen's 1970 Nova rebuild

Hey all! As i said in my intro i'll be doing a Nova build thanks to my husband for grabbing this 1970 nova for me, it was a estate/friend deal came with a ton of extra parts and as you can see will need quite a lot of love. I'm familiar with novas more so than my husband but we are both gearheads i grew up wrenching on my dads 67 chevelle and had a nova in the past, and he has a 29 roadster and a few other gems & worked in classic mustang restoration for years so i think the both of us can... Pertronix III

I just thought I would relate my experience with the pertronix III conversion I had. I installed it properly with a full 12 volts by replacing the resistor wire in my 1963 Nova SS with a regular wire. Initially I got the car running pretty good but I noticed the car would flood easily. Once it flooded it would not start again until I let it sit over night. It has a 327 conversion as I removed the original 6. After thinking it was Carburetor related and trying several rebuilt carbs I was... Pertronix III

Shock mounting?

I’m working on the car and would like to fab up a bar that connects to the rear frame rails and has a upper mount for the shocks and weld on new tabs on the axle for the lower mount.(also I broke off a upper shock mount) I have a leaf spring car not 4 link. Iv seen a few cars like this with the shocks mounted vertical not angled like stock. Anyone fab something like this or is there a kit that someone is using. What’s the pros/cons

rebuilt small block 350 losing oil pressure at cruise 3500 rpm

I just put this car together and have driven it for a month or so with no issue, but the other day I took a longer ride and noticed that when I cruise at around 3500 rpm for a long distance after the engine gets hot, the oil pressure is falling off. It usually has 35 psi at idle hot and 65 psi above idle. At cruise it falls off to around 35 psi. If I accelerate it pops right back up and if I slow down, it acts normally. I am running 10W-30 and I have a Moroso 6 qt pan, Melling M55HV high... rebuilt small block 350 losing oil pressure at cruise 3500 rpm

1963 Side Molding Clips - Where to Find?

I'm hoping someone may be able to point me in a direction for what's hopefully an easy fix. I've poked around a bit online at the various trim/molding clips for first gens, but haven't found what looks like the correct replacement clips for the center door moldings. The one on the very end of the door that's screwed in is broken which causes the trim to lift off of the side of the car. Since the moldings aren't reproduced, are the clips not reproduced either? I'm hesitant to remove the... 1963 Side Molding Clips - Where to Find?

Early 73 Nova- No bumper shocks?

Our 73 Nova is a single family car brought home on 2/17/1973. I am planning a bumper tuck but everything I read about on the 73 bumper tucks doesn't seem to match up with what I have. My front bumper has a rigid “Y” brace on each end. The rear has a mounting spacer block. No shocks on either end. Anyone do a tuck on a 73 with these types of mounts? It looks like I will need to cut and reconfigure the front “Y” braces and the rear spacers. What are your thoughts? [ATTACH... Early 73 Nova- No bumper shocks?

Modifying the Advance Curve of a HEI – UPDATE

For those that might be interested… I have added some new information to the “Modifying the Advance Curve of a HEI” document on my website to provide instructions for the installation of the MSD Vacuum Advance Stop Plate (Part # 84281). The new information details when the blue bushing (that is included with the stop plate) should… and should not be installed. The update also shows recommended stop plate settings for a HEI. I also updated the... Modifying the Advance Curve of a HEI – UPDATE

72 door mirror placement

Apparently the outside door mirrors on the 71's and 72's have been moved back approximately 2 inches. This makes the mirrors almost unusable since they don't swivel enough to make up this difference. You have to almost stick your head out the window to see what's behind you. Doe's anyone have some input or solution for this problem. Right now I have the round bowtie mirrors on the car, could there be a different mirror?

Any ideas what this noise is?

Hey so ive have this car for about a month. Its a 1967 chevy 2 nova sedan. It has ran great up until today that is. I was out driving and on my way home is started making this noise maybe an 1/8 mile from my house. So i nursed it home afraid of what it may be. If im being honest im just now getting into cars since i got this one when my stepfather passed away. My mother and he loved this car and cruising in it and im looking forward to hopefully making many more memories with my wife and... Any ideas what this noise is?

The March 1962 Issue of Hot Rod Magazine (An Important Part of Chevy II/Nova History)

A lot of people think that 1963 was the year people started putting V8 engines into the Chevy II but it had only been out a few months before the performance crowd was already putting V8 engines into the spirited little econobox. I picked this March 1962 issue of Hot Rod Magazine in unread, virtually-mint condition a while back. I knew exactly what I was buying and scarfed it up the moment I saw it. You can tell it is unread because none of the pages are folded open. Minus some slight... The March 1962 Issue of Hot Rod Magazine (An Important Part of Chevy II/Nova History)
