That makes sense. I like that the sensor can trigger an alarm and send notifications once the temperature crosses the set limit. It’s a handy feature, especially if you’re using it to keep an eye on a property while you’re away.

Thanks, @Jason . That gives me a few things to check. I’ll try replacing the battery, power cycling the sensor, and checking whether anything might be affecting the signal. I hadn’t considered the range or panel antenna before, so I’ll look into those too. Hopefully one of those fixes does the trick.

The Problem: Currently, Alarm.com treats all lock events identically. If an automation rule is set to “When Lock is Locked → Arm System to Away,” it fires whether someone hits the outside keypad while leaving or turns the inside thumbturn before going to bed. The Safety & False Alarm Risk: This all-or-nothing approach creates a serious false alarm hazard. When a family locks their doors manually, the system arms, and anyone in the house, unaware could then trigger an alarm either by the system, armed stay and them opening a door or by the system, armed away and them triggering motion sensor either of which could trigger an accidental alarm and possible emergency dispatch. Because of this, dealers routinely tell customers to avoid using “Arm on Lock” entirely. I’ve had this happen myself when the dog sitter came in after using her pin at the front door, turn around and lock the door behind her when she came in and then went to let the dogs out the back door. I can’t use the arm on lock feature at all at my home like I used to be able to with Vivint. The Technical Solution: The Z-Wave Door Lock Command Class ( 0x06 ) already sends distinct payloads for Manual Lock (0x01) and Keypad Lock (0x05) . Alarm.com already distinguishes keypad unlocks from manual unlocks for disarming. Please expose this existing payload distinction in the Rule Builder. Allowing users to trigger rules strictly on Keypad Lock eliminates bedtime false alarms and creates a reliable exit automation for house

I usually get my Honeywell equipment from Alarmgrid as they generally have the largest and most complete online selection for Vista Systems. They ship I believe through ADI which was Honeywell’s distribution arm in recent times, so it’s all OEM sealed equipment. Some of their prices can be marginally inflated so I do look around at others such as GeoArm and Alarm System Store just to be sure for equipment prices. Just know that there are certain modules that won’t work on Surety’s ADC SEM such as a garage tilt sensor / Building Control Module that’s explained in their write ups.

Surety only stocks the ADC-SEM300-VT-VZ-M for the Honeywell Vista, we do not stock any of the keypads or other modules, nor can we special order them at this time.

Since we are a self-install / DIY community I’m curious where everyone sources their Honeywell/Resideo Vista gear? Are there any favorite places to purchase keypads, wireless modules, etc? (like the 6160RF, 6160V, TUXEDO, 5881, etc)? eBay is a land mine so looking for sources with fresh sealed equipment. Or are those things we can special order via Surety? Thanks all.

Offline is a common status indicating that the sensor is having trouble reaching the panel with its heartbeat supervision signals. We have a guide for troubleshooting the Offline malfunction below. What is an Offline (Supervisory) Malfunction trouble condition and How To Resolve How To What is a Malfunction and How to Resolve The Malfunction trouble condition indicates a device (an RF sensor, Z-Wave, Geo-Device, etc.) is unable to properly communicate. Generally speaking, the issue can be resolved via the following means: Verify that the device is still active and powered on. Power cycle the device. Verify there is nothing that could be interfering with communication, such as range (distance from sensor to panel, or Z-Wave device to nearest repeating node). If applicable, v… Depending on the panel model and type of sensors that you have, there may be specific alternate causes. For example, if you have a Qolsys IQ Panel and you are using legacy RF sensors (319.5Mhz, 433Mhz, or 345Mhz), the internal RF sensor antenna in the panel may not be routed out the back of the panel properly. That will cause intermittent difficulty with sensor signals.

Hi everyone, my security system occasionally shows a sensor as offline even though it seems to be working normally. Has anyone experienced this, and what troubleshooting steps helped fix it?

Close… Mine is a Apple Watch Ultra - 1st Gen - with 26.6 (23U67) Phone is 17 Pro w/26.6.2 (I’m thinking a developer thought he was in the test environment but was really in live. Set the sensor display name variable to that ‘test test’ static string and didn’t see it appear on his test device so moved on to other challenges. LOL Or a leftover test that got pushed into prod.)
