When you’re out with a camera, how do you train yourself to notice stronger compositions in ordinary places? Do you use exercises such as sticking to one focal length, looking for a particular shape or colour, or photographing the same location in different light? I’d love to hear which exercises you’ve found useful.

Hi there everyone, I've just signed up for your forum as I would like some advice as to what lens I should get for my 600d. Firstly, I'm not what you would call a photographer, just someone who likes taking pictures, usually of my children, Grandchildren, dogs,cats etc so dont claim to be an expert. found out that I have work over Christmas, should make the period more tolerable.

In the resort we're currently at in Majorca ...but it could be anywhere ...people are hiring twin bicycles that have a small bench infront of the handle bars and the holiday-makers doing the hiring are mainly mum/dad/kids. It's a great way to get round and in the wide dedicated cycle lane along the sea front. What's so nice to see is just how the little 'uns love it on that bench,that has a safety bar which the children grab hold of. I've seen a mum/dad with their three ginger-haired... Read more

Hello, need some help on this one. I got a koolehaoda PA-55 tripod levelling base and a k&f concept gearer tripod head for doing pano's with. Frustrates me levelling the tripod as bit of faff and don't like sacrificing height. Both arrived and went on tripod and a nice by product with the two one is the eye piece is at eye level now. Issue I have is the controls to the geared head catch the levelling bubble on the levelling base. Has anyone overcome this problem without spending £40... Read more

Hi, when I launch DXO PR 6 I am getting two options opening, hard to explain but please see image, the white part behind does not move if I slide the main window to the side and I can't click it to close it, only closes when I close the main window. Russ.

Shutter count, how important is it, I have a couple of DSLR cameras and they are both very close to 30,000 shots. This equates to about 2500 shots each per year. So what do you do as the shutter count starts to go up. Do you just keep going, or do you start to think about replacement of that camera. I know that 30,000 is not a high count but when I looked online yesterday, I was surprised by the info I found. Both of my cameras were rated at 50,000 shots, I thought it would have been double...
