Hi everyone, I’m hoping to get some advice from this experienced community! I recently adopted three senior guinea pigs. They’re all 5 years old. There was some bullying when they first arrived, and I had to separate them. The one being bullied was so terrified that he wouldn't even leave his hidey house with the simple sight of the bully, even when living in a cage side-by-side, so I completely separated them. After 2 months, I tried reintroducing the three of them, but it completely... Read more

I currently have a 3 year old female, Meringue, and a 3 month old female, Spice. Meringue's previous buddy, Pumpkin, passed away about two weeks ago and I got Spice last week to keep her company. Meringue was the dominant piggy with Pumpkin and liked her space and independence. If I had to put them in a pet carrier together, they would often get into little disagreements in the close quarters. After I got Spice, Meringue showed her dominance as expected and Spice seemed to submit to her... Read more
Happy 1st Birthday Truffle! He has been spoilt today (rightly so) and had a new bed and some treats including blueberries and "cake"(Rosewood one), and of course some for Bubble too! Here are some pigtures of the two of them celebrating.
After all I said, I was holding out so well. @alpacasqueak These two are 5ish months old and needed a home. I got tip off about them and couldn't resist a look. They were living in a 120 x 60cm cage and bickering. The peruvian/peruvian cross? has a couple of nip scabs on his back, they are just very tiny. He is also very underweight, just skin and bone under all that fluff. They are settling in well now they have a bigger cage, we have managed to shoehorn in a 4 x 2 C&C (know it... Read more
I’ve recently gotten 3 10 week old sows, and I’m confused on the quantity of pellets to feed them, with my two older boars they get a 1/4 cup scoop of science selective pellets, but I’m not sure how much to feed my sows. I have this same question about veg
Hi! First of all, I'm so happy this forum exists and I've used it quite a few times to learn over the years. Unfortunately my guinea pig Rollie has been sick, I feel like I have nowhere else to turn and need some advice from some experienced owners. Age: 5.5 Sex: Male Breed: Abyssinian History: Rescued at 2.5, sanctuary said he was an "accident" baby, they surrendered the whole litter No cage mates: they tried pairing him but he fought, so I adopted him (I work from home and hang out... Sooo Addy is 6 years and 9 months old, has arthritis and some bladder inflammation (ic). She's on a very good regime of metacam, laser therapy (even her bladder gets lasered) and cartrophen monthly. Shes also bedded on vetbed. She's been sleeping a lot more and mobilising a lot less and generally being an old girl. Anyway she decided to randomly loose weight so the obvious thing even though she'd only recently had one was a vet check. We found very early bumblefoot so we now have baytril and... Read more
I have 2 adorable little chaps, George and Boris. I have been using this forum for advice since February and thought it was about time to join.
Hi Everyone, my first time posting on here, apologies in advance for the long post! I’ve had a read of other posts and thought it would be a good idea to ask for any advice people may have for my particular case. I have a guinea pig, Cassie, that is 2 years 5 months old, I’ve only had her for 2 months. I know she was bred once and all the babies were DOA but she recovered well and didn’t need any medication. As soon as she started to settle in, she started squeaking in pain when going to... Read more
I hope you know how much you are loved and missed. I remember when I first held you in my arms seven years ago. You were small and wriggly and I remember thinking, “It’s our responsibility to keep you alive and we really don’t know anything.” We had researched and prepared but we still didn’t know much and this forum has been invaluable. I remember your first evening. We were told that you would eat eventually and so mini-slave and I sat as far away as we could for forty minutes before you... Read more
