What have you done to your Triumph today?

Changed the oil. Was going to check the plugs but I'll need a 14mm plug socket for that. Figured out how to take the air filter out so I can replace it. Devised an idea for open headers since the factory almost quite conveniently gave it Y-branches off each header.

Chopper rear drum brake pivot hole weld

Got a roller chopper frame with a brake pivot hole that's too small to fit the brake pivot shaft in so I have no idea what kinda rear brake they were using. Going the chopper route now for title purposes so that's new. I tried a Honda brake but too big still and most harley ones are made different so idk. Any idea on a smaller break pivot shaft? My main question is there any measurement out there I should go by when welding my pivot hole pipe that fits my stock brake? I figure I'll have... Read more

Freak Shop Accident/Fire

My old Linde MIG welder has a "hair trigger" contact at the gun and also has a fault due to a board-level component failure which requires two pulls of the trigger to start (1) and to end a weld (2). I last used the welder two days ago, shut off the gas and parked it in its corner of the shop. Today my son calls me in a near-panic to tell me that the welding gloves and helmets that are stored on top of the welder have caught fire. WTF??? He put it out and noted that the welder's power switch... Read more

Resurrecting My '79 XS650F

Hello all, from Michigan! Well, it looks like I'm going to be resurrecting my old bike. Hooray! Oh man, I'm going to be resurrecting an old bike. I've owned my '79 XS650F since 1993. It's my first and actually only road bike. I've had it longer than I've had my wife. I'm the 2nd owner and I've put most of its miles on it -- I got it for $400 from a friend of the family, with 6,400 miles on it. I think it has 26k-ish on it right now. Sadly, I parked it when my twins were... Read more

SS BRAKE HOSE

Looking to replace rubber brake hoses with 1 stainless steel braided hose on my 79 standard with stock bars, and I should mention that the m/c is getting replaced with an 11mm setup from Mike's as well. My question is, how long should I make the new singular brake hose?

The following parts are for sale and any reasonable price will be accepted. I want this stuff gone. Buyer will pay all shipping costs. My bike is a 1981 XS650SH and many of the parts were removed when I modified the bike. However, some of the parts came with the bike when I purchased it. Passenger grab rail solution for a 74 TX?

Looking (again) to draw on the wisdom of the group. Trying to find a grab rail solution for a 74 with the welded-on rear handle which helps HUGELY with getting the bike on to the centre stand - I don't want to to cut it off. However...I would like something back there as a support for my riding companion, for the DGR amongst others. (The W800 was great but has gone..) ..but I'm struggling. The 74 seat doesn't have mounting points for the earlier grab rails... Read more
