OCC 469 - restoring & running a "sharkstooth" 2000

At last I'm making some progress putting OCC 469 back together & thought I'd post some recent pictures... Lights on - in fact the first time something had worked on the car for 33 years  Is my fuel stale? Fully rebuilt engine back in.. This car's last tax disc expired in June 1978 meaning over 33 years since it last hit the road. Does anyone know of a longer lay up?

Lucas 18ACR Alternator Carbon Brushes

I originally posted this thread with photos under 'My Rover' in the Members Projects section. Given its significance within the context of alternator consumables, I am duplicating the thread text here only. Within the last two weeks on a 500 mile (800 km) run I noticed both my ammeter and voltmeter twitching slightly. This is normally a warning that at least one of the carbon brushes within the alternator is in need to replacement. For at least 20 years I have been using Cargo brand carbon... Read more

2200TC Project

I really should have done this a few months ago when I got the car, [ 1977 Richelieu Red,, Manual ] but I didn't know my way around the forum and, having only a small garage it makes photography difficult. I haven't really done anything deeply mechanical other than cleaning the carbs, new gaskets on the manifold, replacing missing nuts and bolts, plugs, distributor cap, HT leads. cleaned the engine bay, cleaned the interior three times, taking care of Rust. I'm stocking up on parts but I'm... Read more

Centrifugal ignition advance springs and possible pinking query

Hello all, My first time posting here. Great forum! It’s a font of knowledge. So I wondered if I could get some technical advice? I have been struggling with a jingling noise coming from my V8, when under load. I think it is pinking. The car has 24000km from new so not much wear and tear but was dry stored for over 30 years. So I have had to do a lot of work over the past year to gradually get it back on the road. The fuel system has been completely overhauled from the tank to the... Read more

1947 Rover 12 Tourer (P2) - Pushrod (valve) Question

Hello, this is my first post as I recently inherited my Dad's 1947 Rover 12 Tourer that has been in our family since the early 1960's. It was rebuilt between 2003-2005 and has been running (mostly) smoothly since, until the pushrod on the 4th cylinder exhaust valve had a clean break. I received a couple of used pushrods to replace (from Meteor Spares - fantastic support from Mike) but I am attaching a photo showing my broken pushrod (taped to a pen for measurement) and the two replacements... Rover P6 2000/2200 front discs - NOS

Pair of front brake discs. Still in the original packaging and wrapped in wax paper. They are 262mm (10,3 inch) diameter, so only suitable for 2000/2200 models. £140 for the pair. I am based in Germany, so shipping to the UK will be about £40 due to the weight.

The View From The Windscreen

I thought that it might be a nice idea to post some photos looking through the Rover windscreen. A view that we can share showing our part of the world and what we see. So to start the ball rolling, here are some photos from New South Wales, Australia. The first three photos are in the town of Orange during Autumn 2011. ... Read more

Cresta

I am just getting going on this again The idea is to make a dragster type custom that looks and sounds like the Black impala on Supernatural but with a bit more British reserve This rather aggressive looking thing has been on ebay for most of the year so I made an offer and now it's mine I could just go out and buy a small block chevy V8, but this has a gen IV L99 - 6.2L with 400bhp in stock trim and easy to tune to much more. With this, I... Read more

Brake fluid level switch overhaul - again

I repaired the brake fluid float on my 72 Series 2 2000TC about 18 months ago. Used a trimmed down champagne cork as a float. All worked well. Recently, the brake warning light has begun to flicker again. Overfilling master cylinder reservoir temporarily resolves it. I believe my champagne cork has absorbed fluid and is now very slowly sinking. Am in pro renewing the float (a fiddly job), this time with a brand new wine cork (cheaper to buy 10 corks from Amazon than to open a bottle of... Read more

4.6 engine swap parts list. (plus Toyota W5* gearbox)

Hi all, I've scoured differnet forums and book of faces and I thought I'd make a list of everything that I'll need to swap in a 4.6 into my p6b. Ron and others, can you chime in with your experiences and thoughts on what I'll need? Engine: 4.6 block - top hat linered heads - I have SD1 heads and 4.6 heads. Which would be better to have ported etc? Crank/Rods/Pistons - haven't decided. Probably standard crank, maybe standard rods? ARP bolts Intake - Offenhauser Carb - AFB/Edelbrock Ignition...
